It appears that someone tried, in vain, to get in my truck some time Thursday night. The paint is badly scratched up under that plastic/rubber piece in two big spots and that black piece is pretty much ruined.

To top it all off, it looks like after they gave up on getting something in the door it looks like they threw rocks (muddy ones, hence the mud) at the window, leaving some big deep scuffs on the glass with mud engrained in them.

Sooo....not getting the door repainted right now, just going to get some touch up so atleast it won't look bad from far away.

I'm guessing I could go to the dealer and get a replacement strip for whatever that black piece is called.

Any ideas on what I can do for the glass?

This is really making me uneasy about installing a Pionner AVH-P3100DVD next week...and of course now the GPS stays in the console.

Just moved to Birmingham 4 weeks ago. Welcome.
Were there any large muddy rocks near the truck? I'm not saying they weren't trying to get in, but if they were it was by busting your window (at which they weren't successful). Not even an amateur crook would try to get in the truck by bending that molding, that wouldn't give them any entrance at all. It looks like either simple "jackass vandalism" or they were trying to break the window with a BIG (muddy) rock. Sorry to hear about that- you would always like to catch someone at something like that. Like the other poster said, deliver a good *** whopin and Super Size the hurt. maybe think a day or two before trying it again. Times like that you'd like to have a 100k volt tazer and just keep pushing the button til the battery ran down.

Add: the glass is tempered glass, it's so hard it's almost impossible to do anything with that. It takes special equipment to polish glass and even then it may come out looking wavy.

Well right now I'm stuck with trying to make it look better for cheap for the time being...maybe in a few months I'll be able to get it fixed right. That deductible is a b**** haha
