But as far as the boards.. I think if your wanting to keep them on, just do black lineX, I wouldn't even try the PTM lineX if it won't last past 6 mo. As far as the handles, I would just go ahead and try the cheap chrome.. heck, it might only cost about $50 (handles, paint, primer, sand ppr, beer) to paint your mirrors and handles. If you don't end up liking them, then your not out to much.

What do the FX4 luxury ones cost? Or are you talking about the Mark LT ones?
Tasca sent me the Part # but then it said it wasn't found. SO i'm gonna email them back and see what they say. I think I will try out the chrome handles for now. we'll see. I really would just like to get the FX4 Luxury ones and be done with it.

Well I want to do the PTM handles now b/c Tasca wants $95 a handle

So I think I might go the route of PTM the chrome handles, but I want them to look exact not a little off. Does the duplicolor DSG look close??

Take apart your handles and paint them

Duplicolor comparison - It would probably match better it they were sanded down and glossy cleared.

I know when I painted my chrome handles red with the duplicolor that at first they looked just a bit off but after about a month or so it blended right in. I think it just takes time for the paint to fully cure out. The same thing when I put OEM flares on my truck and they were painted at a shop.

x2. I think your truck would look miles better without them.

For the PTM handles, use automotivetouchup.com they color match factory paint perfectly. Mine turned out perfect.

Grille is painted with their stuff:

i just painted my handles with the automotivetouchup.com paint.

they came out pretty good for a spray can, but i ran outta clear, so they didnt turn out that great.

mayb im abit generous with the spray, but i just about had enough paint for the basecoat spray can, and i could of used more clear as i mentioned.

one spray can of base coat would prolly be ok for 5 handles, just use it sparingly. but i would pick up another can of clear to be safe its only like $10 for the spray can.

as for the side steps, take em off

Thanks Man! I will take those steps off this week and see how I like it.

You used their can of clear coat? I was possibly going to use duplicolor's but if you think theirs is better I might do that.

Edit: how did you get the handles smooth ?

To get the handle buckets smooth, sand them with 320 and 600 grit and sand the hell outa them (you gotta get that chrome crap off). It takes work but the only way to get good results is to prep them well. Then hit them with adhesion promoter and primer. Then wetsand with 1000 to really smooth them out. Then 2 quick but steady coats of basecoat and 2 quick but steady coats of clear and they will be perfect. Dont go slow or you get blotches, just a nice steady stream going from left to right or vice versa. For lots of gloss, hit them with rubbing compound 24 hours after painting/clear.

Their website has step by step instructions and even a video of the whole process. Its super easy you just gotta take your time.

I used a whole can of basecoat, primer, and clear to paint 3 handle buckets and a FX2 grille (2 coats of each). I still have another can of each for when I get off my *** and paint my mirror caps.
