I'd probably do the chrome covers. The stockers have texture and getting them smooth is going to be a royal PITA. Also, if they don't turn out they way you like then you aren't out $300 for new factory handles.

I'm gonna have to agree with mSall... You can probably pick up a set on ebay for $40 and then paint supplies for pretty cheap... then you can do your mirrors and handles at the same time..

I would either take off your current handles and paint them or buy a used set of handles, paint those and sell your stock handles to make up for the cost.

I first painted the chrome covers, they're still holding up good. but i want more of a permanent fix.

Like Msall said Automotivetouchup.com has a step by step instructions, just follow those and it will turn out great.

Heres the link:

They re clear spray looks great btw. this was my first time painting something to match the paint and it turned out pretty good.

You guys know you can buy factory paint in an aerosol can at any paint store that has an automotive section, right? For the life of me I don't know why anyone would buy that Duplicolor stuff. It's more money (about $20/can), but it will match perfectly, and is better quality.

As for chrome door handle covers...WHY?! You can buy replacement smooth Mark LT handles for about $25-$30 each ALL DAY LONG on eBay and then just paint them. I bought my 2 door handles and tailgate handle for about $83 shipped!

Door handles - $83

OEM Paint (2 cans - can be done with one can probably, but I'm fussy and would re-do them if there was an imperfection, so I used a lot of paint) - $40

One can of clear - $5

One can of Adhesion promoter - $5

2000 grit sandpaper - $5

$138 total for 3 PTM handles.

Sell your stock handles, and get a few bucks back too.

Do you mean you can get factory match paint at Advanced Auto or something?

I have a supercrew so I need 5 handles too

No, at a paint store, like Benjamin Moore, etc. Any paint store that sells home and automotive paints.

So add in another $50-$60 for 2 more handles...screw those handle covers!
