You're a cowboy, you do things your own way.

The anti-seize is recommended per the latest TSB by FMC. They say put it on there for a reason, so that's good enough for me.

Why does this work so well, as it counters just about every recommendation in the latest TSB?

Hmmm .. y'all might be on to something

Good job
your willing to say this works so well after seeing one person do it????

Lets get 20-30 people do it this way and compare the results. You ahve no idea of the history on this truck, how it was driven, type of fuel, long drives or short drives.

With that said....glad it worked for him.

good points! I dont blame you at all for what you are saying. I still cant say it would work great for every person either. Just like there are several that have changed them normally without issue.

I normally drive 10 miles to work and 10 back home. But I also have made several long trips. I bought the truck a year ago with 36k miles on it. 3 years old. now it have 62k miles on it. run the cheap 87 stuff.

I plan to change a few more trucks this way. I will keep everyone updated.

How do you get an impact on the back plugs?

I don't know about 'knocking the carbon off.' I think the initial impact breaks the carbon loose and subsequent impacts keep everything moving.

oh it just fits.

i had several different extensions that i used. and it fit perfect in there.

when it breaks it loose where does it go? i breaks its off? sorry sometimes my terminology isnt that great. but I do know it worked and took me about 1.5hrs taking my sweet time.

My uneducated guess is that it breaks the BOND loose that the carbon has formed between the plug & the head. Some carbon MAY also break completely free & fall into the cylinder. I would imagine it gets swept out pretty quickly after firing the engine up.
