How do you remove the steps on a stepside? Mine are pretty bad, and I want to paint them, but dont feel like covering up the truck.

depends

you can remove them from the frame rail

or

you can unbolt them from the 4 brackets. each bracket has 1 bolt (total of 2 per side) that screws directly into the bottom of the step

I suggest you leave the brackets on the frame and just remove the step itself. it's a heck of alot easier...especially as you'll be putting them back onto the truck

Wouldn't you see the brackets? Wouldn't they be [clearly] visible from a standing position?

Not too sure how [cosmetically] appealing that would look....

OOOOOhhhhhh... I think you all had me misunderstood. Im not talking about the step bars... im talking about the stepside bed.... steps. Anywho they just pop off. Have to pry the bottom off gently... then pull straight out.
