i lot of my friends got new trucks when they turned 16 or 17 and 95% are scared to see mud on it on the other hand i cant stay out of but i bought my truck with my own money i fix it when something breaks with my own money, he should be fine but just tell him if you abbuse it you must pay for the repair bill, so this way its his own fault as far as the lift procomp is pretty nice thats what i have and its not that expensive compared to bds and fabtech, if thats the case he will need wheels and tires, procomp has a wheel and tire package for about 1100$ you are indeed a very nice dad i wish my dad would do that for me... good luck

Lytefoot this is a 3" Body lift and 2.5" leveling kit with 35's just for reference

dude your truck looks terrible you said to tell you.. lol im jk man

But go ahead and get the 6inch and 35s. I was 18 when i bought my truck and now i just turned 20 a few months ago and im on 37s with 11inches of lift ( going bigger ) and the truck is nearly paid off ( time for a diesel ). I baby the truck and constantly taking care of it with maintanance and all kinds of crap. Im sure once you get it for him he will appreciate what he has bc not many kids will have a nice truck like his.

Before lifting a truck it's a good idea to check with your insurance company on their thought's about running an offroad truck (tires and suspension) on the highway on a regular basis. In case of an accident you may get the wrong adjuster and they may deny coverage in certain instance's. Lawyer's can stick their noses in an say it was the pickup driver's fault because of the tires or something else. It's happened before. Just food for thought.

its not different, either way your wasting money to change something that could of been done in the first place.

4 wheel parts and my dad tried to talk me into a 2 1/2" leveling kit and 33's, my truck wouldnt have gone nearly the places i wanted it to go with just that, i would have had water in my cab multiple times sitting that low.

dont sound like a dip**** trying to get all e-hard over someone elses opinion.

if you want to keep it cheap, you can throw some 35's on it stock. i have an 01 crewcab with 35's on it. nothing underneath ever been touched, just cut the plastic so you get limited rubbing. my dad has an 05 with 35's and stock as well. if you are going to lift it though do a suspension definately, body lifts look like its been lifted with hockey pucks and copenhagen lids thrown under the frame, pretty cheap if you ask me. good present btw

First offThis thread is 3 months old...

And I was also 16 when I got my truck. You may be happy with no suspension lift and you might not be able to handle it. But that doesnt mean everyone else cant. I got my truck when I turned 16. Im almost 19 now and its better than ever and ive payed for it all. So **** and GTFO.

I like the lifts but I went with a 3" leveling kit and an add a leaf. I bought both for less than $180 I think it was. I had 33/12.50/17 Mickey Thompson Baja Mtz before I did the leveling kit and add a leaf. Soon as these tires go I will go with 35's. I installed it all myself and it looks great for the price. I would suggest going with this if you havent done anything to the truck yet. Here is a few pics of my truck to give you the idea. Ya I would love a 6" lift but I also love the looks of my truck.

I started out with a 1999 F-250 Light Duty truck when i was 16 then just before my 18th birthday my mom bought me a used 2005 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4.I've had it since Nov. 2009 and I love the truck to death. She said I could do just about whatever i wanted to do to it as long as I paid for it. I've taken it off-roading maybe 2 or 3 times because im too scared to mess it up. My truck is on a Rough Country leveling kit, i believe its a 3" spacer up front and a 1" lift block in the back sitting on 35x12.50 BFGoodrich Mud Terrains. By the way you're an awesome dad for doing this for your son. My dad passed away just before my 15th birthday and i would give anything for him to be here to work on my truck with me.

And I think ive spent around $6k on everything, lift, wheels, tires, exhaust, sound system, and other mods.
