Probably easier now to just order the Ford parts.

Whoops, forgot... Click Mod Notes at the end for the step by step.

the 08s came with the tailgate bezel that had the camera hole in it. you can get that from ford for like 30-40 bucks i believe, then get a small camera off ebay to hook in there. if you buy the camera from ford its like 200-300 dollars, if you measure the hole in the tailgate handle bezel then you can get a generic camera off ebay to fit the hole

Just wondering were there any ford models that came with a backup camera on the mirror. I would like to install one, but I don't have a dvd or nav head unit.

Watson91 - there are systems on ebay that include a mirror/monitor - it simply clips over your existing rear view mirror.

Kool I will check into that, for some reason I was thinking one of the models came with the camera built into the mirror. Maybe not, I will see what I can dig up on ebay.

Looks like I need to contact Tasca, I was thinking these mirrors were very expensive though. I'm not sure what my other options would be other than getting some sort of nav/dvd hu which I don't really need or want.

Your other option would be a free standing monitor that would mount to your dash or visor somewhere - these are usually 3-7" diagonally. If you don't go to a mirror/monitor - or a video capable HU, that's your only other option.

Again, a wide variety to be found on ebay and elsewhere of course. Here's a pic of the 7" monitor that came as part of a set with the camera I still use - I sold the monitor when I moved to a video/NAV HU.

I'v got the same camera as in the first picture and mounted it in the bumper above the factory warning sensor..it fits right in and no one can steal it..which I'v heard happening with the ones in the emblems and license plate holders.

I use the Boyo VTL 375 is is very slim and invisible to the average person.

I just stuck one of those $20 backup lights from Home Depot in the 7 way plug.

There was a thread somewhere in here that a guy said he came out of Home Depot and saw a guy behind his truck that he didnt think twice about at the time..but when he got home he saw that some one had tried to pry the emblem and camera off.It was still there but the tailgate was damaged by them trying.
Lets face it they steal anything..there was a rash of TAILGATES being stolen here a few years ago..and the killer..they weren't re-selling them..they were scrapping them for the metal.
