Engine Symbol Flashed when pulling out in traffic???
Hey all,
So last night was about 30' out I started my truck before leaving work. It ran about 10 min went to the gas station 2 blocks away for smokes and a monster... Anyway when pulling out of the gas station I got on it to pull into traffic doing this the truck stumbbled a little then I noticed my engine symbol light flashing. It flashed so long I was able to grab my phone a record it so I could try and count and see a pattern in the flashing. This was while I was at a light up the st. I started driving again on the green light and engine light went away... Started truck up today drove an hour to work and so far no light no werid acts from the truck...
Whats the deal???

Don't run 93 octane in any engine unless it is designed or tuned for it.
It wrecks your o2 sensors and cats.

When you floor it all the gas in the tank moves to the back and if you have less than 1/4 tank the truck might stumble because there is no fuel to be used. It happened to me in my 05 a couple times but I never got a CEL.
I used to have an '03 Escape, and I lent it to my buddy for a day. He called me up and told me that the CEL was lit. He took it down to NYC. Well anyhow, I asked him if he put any E10 or just regular gas in it. He said regular gas. So I told him, bring it by a Ford dealer down there to get the codes read (got the premiumcare on it... so it was free of course), and he got the codes and they told him what they thought was wrong which was he put E10 in or 93+ octane. Well he called me back and told me the news. He then recalled that he put 93 octane premium in because he thought he was being nice. I almost flew down there to beat the living crapoo out of him. I told him to run it almost empty and put 87 in it and run it like that for the rest of the trip and after about two tanks, he could find a Ford dealer and have them reset the codes.
Sure enough, they reset it, and it never came back on and even both Ford dealers comfirmed that the wrong gas was put in it.
Here's a good one for you...

Yeah... it gave me issues here and there. The engine didn't even like a K&N filter element in the stock air box and I almost lost my extended warranty over it too. But other than that, the engine in that thing was bulletproof. It was Ford's Duratec 3.0l V6.
The only thing that the Escape suffered on was the transmission. It had the dreaded and most unreliable automatic tranny in it. It was the CD4E -- the same one that they used in Ford Probes, earlier Taurus, and the dreaded Mercury Mistake (Mystique)... I do not know why Ford thought the CD4E would've been a good candidate for a PTO conversion for the ControlTracII 4x4 system on the 4x4 Escapes.
I loved that little suv, but I went through 4 trannies with it. I was surprised Ford didn't just by it back from me. IIRC, it was close to ~$5,500 a pop per tranny every 15k to 20k... so that was around $22,000 Ford lost on my vehicle. I could only imagine if it went again.
And of course that didn't include a few other things that went on it like the rear end.
