Wheels bearing out AGAIN-Why?? Help!!!
Ok guys, I just bought new rotors 3 months ago because of bad wheel bearings and already I am having to replace the drivers side rotor again cause I am getting the same whining noise! This is on a 2WD SCREW, I did replace the nut and there should be nothing else causing this and its not the rotor brand because I have heard several guys have the same prob and we're all using a different brand rotor so it has to be something with the truck, anybody else having this problem, its getting ridiculous if I have to replace rotors everytime I change my oil!! Please Help!!!!!!! BLUEJAY- where are ya man?
Are you certain you are getting it torqued back to spec. I believe its in the 250 range. Take your bad one back and have them replace it. Alignment probably couldnt hurt but I dont think its your problem. I think you have just unforntunately gotten craps bearings.
Yea I think(hopefully) I just got crap bearings, just wonder why it would be on the same drivers side again! Tookk to rotor back today at lunch and got a replacement, will put the new one on tonight. Don't beleive my truck is out of alignment but I will take it in a have it checked. This just can't continue to be a problem as it is frustrating!
Would "not" replacing the nut have any effect on this? I wouldn't think so, if the nut was torqued right and it was not loose at all, neither did I have any play in the wheel! Just hate to go spend $20 bucks again on another one of those rip off spindle nuts! I have heard alot of guys reuse them, I would think that would be fine along with locktite!
It wouldn't hurt to replace (or check) the nut, just in case. And while you're at it, check the spindles. A complete check of all components would not hurt at all. I wouldn't overlook anything and if you could afford to replace gently worn parts, you should. Pay a little now instead of a lot later. And again, seek a major alignment afterwards. My .02. - Og

Obviously the nut is a toss up on replacing. Some do some don't. I didn't but I also didn't put many miles on it before trading it in. So I will never know if it becomes a problem. I could see were the nut could come loose after time if being reused. Notice how easy it spins back on. Compare it to how hard it was to get all the way off. I couldn't hand spin mine off like I could spinning it back on when I reused mine. If you dont want to buy a new nut you could consider lock-tite but use at your own risk. I personally dont recommend but thats up to you. Just trying to throw out suggestions.
