Trans slipping, shaking, lost OD.... At 57 K ???
not sure if it is misunderstanding or what. but I want to clear the air about a few Warranty things. Some of the comments above seem confused as to what is the actual policy.
1. the 3yr/36k warranty starts from the DATE OF PURCHASE. not build date.
hope that helps somewhat

you could buy a "Brand New" 2004 Truck TODAY that has sat on the lot for 5yrs...and it would be under Warranty until Sept 2012 or 36,000 miles...whichever comes first.
only caveat that might screw you is the Dealer Incentive thingy. sometimes they let Managers drive the vehicles...called "Put in Use". If they do that, this starts the Warranty Period.
2. In Late 2006 (November-ish) Ford retroactively gave some 2006 model trucks a complimentary 5yr/60k Powertrain Warranty. only caveat that might screw you is the Dealer Incentive thingy. sometimes they let Managers drive the vehicles...called "Put in Use". This was because some 2006 trucks were still being sold, and the December debut of the 2007 models was really FUBAR'd IMO as they had the new 5yr/60k Powertrain + the 3yr/36k Bumper-to-Bumper.
So Ford manned up so to speak. I was one of those people. I bought my 06 FX4 in October 2006...but it was built in July 06
This is applicable to any and all 2006 F-150's built on/after July 2006.
3. Warranty is 100% Transferable if it is through Ford. The ESP may have a $50-100 Transfer Charge, but it is yours. So Ford manned up so to speak. I was one of those people. I bought my 06 FX4 in October 2006...but it was built in July 06

The Warranty goes by the truck (VIN #). Not by the prior owner.
So unless the Prior Owner canceled the ESP and cashed it in for $$$...the truck is still covered.
So call up the ESP 1-800 # and get that puppie transferred over to you. Once transferred...they cannot cancel it on you.

Thanks, Tylus. Sounds like Ford needs to educate their help.
Just got back from the dealership and transferred the 5yr/60k warranty to my name. For $50 I now have 2 more years and about 30k miles of not having to worry about paying for a transmission if it goes.
Thanks Tylus.
Thanks Tylus.
Mr. eXtreme, when you say that you had a shake in the truck how bad was it? The reason that I ask is because this weekend we went on a road trip to my bro and sis-in-laws house, and twice with the cruise set at 60 mph after coasting down 2 different hills I noticed a very slight "shake" right before the motor got under load again. The first time it happened I thought it was just a little wash board in the road, but after doing it twice I started to wonder. It never happened again after those 2 times, and I put over 80 miles on after those 2 times(15 more miles to his house and 65 miles back home a couple hours later). My tranny temps weren't any higher than normal, 138-144 range the entire time
When it would shake you could feel it in both the drivers side and passanger side floor towards the inside along the trans tunnel.
Still waiting to hear word from the dealer. But after talking to a couple trans shops I found out that the ring that holds the planetary gear in place tends to break. Hence causing these problems. Also I was told that there is an update kit that is used when repairing the trans.
Yeah, I kind of got the run around at first. EVEN though I had all the facts straight. It took me finally telling the Dealer to look up my VIN for ****s and giggles and prove me wrong then. And well.... They couldn't!!
it is a common occurance.
The Dealership gets cut-rate $$$ if they do Warranty Work. But if they can trick/convince you that it isn't covered...well they make out like Bandits.
probably would be a good thing to get something like the Warranty info as a sticky. there is alot of assumptions flying around, and not many people have had to deal with the B.S. and learn.
I had to fight Ford for 2 months with my Expy for a Warranty Paint Repair...so I learned alot about the whole process.

I guess this is why they are deemed "Stealers"
So I heard from them late yesturday. They are pulling the Trans today or tomorrow for further inspection. They agree after checking the electronics and solenoids that it is internal.
At this point they will have an inspector out to evaluate it and determine if they are replacing the whole trans or rebuilding mine.

I just spoke with Ford ESP Dept. about transferring the warranty on my truck. She said both the 3/36,000 and the 5/60,000 power train warranty go with the vehicle itself no matter who owns it. The only thing that can be transferred is if there is an extended service plan purchased separately for the vehicle over and above the standard warranty.
If that is true mxracer49 paid $50.00 for nothing. I can understand that a warranty on a product goes with the product until the stated time expires. If you want MORE you buy it and IT is transferable.

1. 3yr/36k Bumper to Bumper
2. 5yr/60,000 Powertrain
3. ESP - a Extended Warranty Plan that you can purchase...basically a Bumper-Bumper
You are correct, option #1 & 2 go with the truck. So does option #3. However, with #3 you are at the mercy of the prior owner. They can cancel said ESP at any time for $$$.
But if you pay the $50 for transfer...it is yours
I have a 06 also with 87,000 miles. Just picked up my truck from the tranny shop with similar problems. Mine had vibration upon downshift into 3rd. I took it to ford they said its toast. The tranny shop some what fixed it. He replaced two solenoids that control oil flow to the valves. The computers at ford won’t pick this up unless they completely fail. Mine were only working about 70%. I just have to keep driving it and see what happens. I may have caused mechanical damage.

They can keep my $50 for 2 more years and 30k miles of not having to worry about paying 3k if my trans fails.
Strange how so many people get so many different answers on this from Ford.
My truck is going in this week for filter and a full flush, got a price of $80 from a local mechanic who has done work to my 94 F150 in the past. (regeared from 3.08's to 4.10's and put a Detroit Locker in the rear and a Auburn posi up front. And also rebuilt the tranny and T-case in the 94) That was 8 years ago and it is still going strong with no issues from his work.
I ended up getting prices ranging from $200 at a tranny shop (filter and flush), $140 (for just a flush) and $80 (for filter and flush). It amazing how prices in a 20 mile area can vary so much.
Heck in my area the dealer wants $187 for just a flush. I cannot remember the price for a filter change but it was ridiculous. $80 sounds like a damn good price considering how much fluid it takes + the filter and labor. They are probably just breaking even if that.
