Brake boster recall

Just wondering if anyone had the recall work done for the vacum lines on the brakebooster yet. As I wnat to know how long it will take to get done. I keep getting notices in the mail to get it done but don't want to waste a day at the dealership to get it fixed as my truck is my only transpertation.

They did mine when they flushed all my fluids...couldn't tell you how long because they were doing other things....They will have it about half a day though as it will sit for a few hours before anyone touches it...recall work isn't top of the list usually

The dealership was waiting for my truck when I pulled in, less than twenty minutes. Took longer for the manager to fill out the paperwork than actually fix the thing.

If your engine bay is hot it's hard for them to get in there and do the work. That's why it takes 4 hours, let things cool off. That's what I was told.

It can be done hot if you got a git'r done type of tech on the job. They told me that my truck would have to cool off for a couple hours before they could do it.So I walked down the street and got a coffee, stopped at the part store for a few minutes.I was only gone for about 25 minutes and they were backing my truck out of the shop as I returned.

They did mine while replacing the short block, when my engine hydrolocked from a stuck open fuel injector. I bet it took them about a minute if that long.

Is this common? I didn't know this could happen. What symptoms showed up, prior to your engine self-destructing?
Thanks, MB

Only 05 5.4's have this problem. Ford switched injector manufacturers for 05 (switched back in 06 and up) and they tend to fail, but Ford extended the injector warranty to cover when/if they fail on the 05 5.4.

Mine took about 30 minutes. Their arm has to go back in a high heat area at the rear of the motor, so they need to let it cool some if the engine is hot.

Go to the Ford website and enter your VIN in the recall check. Tt's a brake booster vacuum hose that can blow off and make it hard to stop.

No don't think so. The reason for the recall is because the hose connection near the engine can swell and be blown off, which would then cause a loss of vacuum on the booster. No vacuum would mean you lose the power brakes and have manual brakes only. Very difficult to stop, hard pedal.

The soft pedal issue is fixed by an adjustment of the actuator rod.
