I hope they get caught and have to pay every bit of it back. Sorry about your truck, I would be sick if something like this happened to my truck. I have a 2-way compustar alarm/remote start and it helps me sleep better at night. The wife hates it because if she stand to close its chirps at her and if she doesnt get away the alarm goes off. HAHA

I got a tip from the show "To catch a Thief" , lock up all your spare keys in a locked key box. Keep the key with you at all times. They explained that people who get there house broken into, are victimized later on by having their vehicles stolen or valuables taken from them. Some times the victims didn't even realize their spare keys were taken in the original break in. I bought a locked key box and mounted it in the closet.

Well, here is the update:

Got a call last night from the detective working my case. They had arrested the 2 kids (both 16 years old) that I had suspected from the week prior when the keys were stolen. Turns out without hardly any pressure they both caved and told them the whole story, and admitted to everything, including some other break-ins in the neighborhood.

The things I find funny are:

1) These 2 kids showed up univited to a party on my street the night the keys were stolen, and allowed me to take their picture on my camera. One kid even took his own picture. So I naturally gave it to the cops, used facebook and some other contacts to get their names and addresses within 2 days.

2) they also were smart enough to take pictures on their cell phones of all the other stuff they stole, so the cops had a nice photo library of all the evidence.

Needless to say they are in jail now, 6 felonies and 11 total counts standing against them... we will see how it pans out.

In the meantime, the insurance company was very cool, and is playing ball on the repairs. She'll be back to normal in no time. And, yes, in the event something in the drivetrain or otherwise exhibits any signs of damage once the bodywork is all done, they will cover that too, they can tie it back to the original claim.

Other than being without wheels, this will all be good to go soon!

Glad to hear they were caught and your life may get back to normal. Hope that all the damage is found and fixed, and those kids do some hard time with a sledge hammer and a pile of rocks.

NICE! It sucks to be in jail at that young of an age, but you have to do the time if you are going to take those kind of actions. They will learn their lesson the hard way, just as everyone should. At least they manned up and admitted everything upfront.

Glad it all worked out!

Glad they got some closure to that. I've had a few vehicles broken into and have never found out who did it. Tears you up inside. I hate when it's like six months later and you try to find a CD or something only to find out that it was something else that they took and you just didn't realize it was missing at the time. Brings all the hate back again.

I see you're in Kansas. You should hit Travis up at www.kcautosound.com and get yourself an alarm. Not sure where you're located in Kansas but he travels all over Kansas City installing. He will even sell you a system with a do-it-yourself guide.
