What the ! You need to do some scrubbing with a wire brush before you paint! Or just buy some spray on rust converter but it'll be rough painting over the converted rust. I'd probably blast it with walnut shell.

I really need to do my truck soon since these gravel roads really beat the crap out of everything under the truck.

Not meaning to hijack but where did you get a rear sway bar?

I took a brush to it yesterday and that didn't do much. May just need por15.

The sway bar is a Hellwig, can't recall where I got it. It's been on there a few years and I've been happy with it.

I love simple things like this that really make a truck look cleaner. One trick I used was aluminum foil instead of newpaper to mask large areas off and wrap around brake lines and such. You can bend and wrap it around things and then tape off the edges.

Great Job!

The foil is a great idea! I'll be using that wen I do the drive shaft.

yours turned out really nice too, i usually will do this about twice a year and also do my fender wells too when i wash. i use the gloss black for the fender wells and hit them with a little wd40 in between paintings an washing

When I had my 97 F150 I duct taped the driveshaft like a barber pole and painted it red, white, and blue.
