pop..pop.....smoke?

I was driving on the interstate tonight and noticed my exit was coming up... I began to accelerate to pass a semi and while the truck down shifted it was like the clutch was slipping and the rpm's continued to go up (this has happened a couple times recently) then there was three pops from the engine compartment and I smoked out the cars behind me (first time). Everything seemed fine after this... any thoughts on what this could be? I have just hit 65,000 miles it is an 05 Supercrew.

What engine? If its a 5.4 it could be the injectors.

Yes it is a 5.4. If it is the injectors, do they need to be replaced, or cleaned?

How do I go about cleaning them, just pour the additive into my tank or is there a more efficient way?

There have been a few threads on here about injector problems. One is listed below but there are some more if you do a search. Seems like it's a relatively common problem on your year truck. Best of luck getting it figured out!

As I understand it the 05 has injector issues or some of them do I had one replaced in mine
I think its more than just a cleaning you need, but i was told that there is a 110000 mile warranty on the injectors and spark plugs I think
Was the smoke black or gray ?
