key pad code?

I recently bought an '05 lariet (obviously used) and the dealer did not know the master code for the key pad. How can I find the master code without paying $100 at the dealer??? Thanks for the help!

Behind the rear seat is the master unit with the code on it. Pull the rear seat and you will find it. Now pulling the rear seat is a whole other story. Do a search on here and you will find a lot of info on this. Good luck.

You pull just the back of the rear seat. It can be a pain on your first attempt, but is really not hard after you see what needs to be done. The Body Control Module is on the rear wall. It is a 5 digit number.

If you still have a manual, you might get lucky. From the factory, there was a card with the code, placed in the manual. Some have found it still there.

Also, try to convince a dealer to do it for free so they get your business. All they do is hook up a computer and takes about 5 minutes.

$100?!?!?!??! Find a new freakin dealer. I'm sure if I took mine in, my dealer wouldn't charge me a thing.

Yeah, my buddy did a little dealing when he took his truck in for service. He still had to pay, but it was a lot cheaper than what they originally told him.

Had the same thing with my truck. Pulled the rear seat, expected it to be a big PITA from all the stuff I have seen here but after reading through a couple sets of instructions... it was really easy.

This may help:

Waited about 6 months after I got my truck to get the code. Can't believe I waited that long, I use it all the time.

You guys are great. I knew that it was probably located some place in the truck. Unfortunately, no manual. The reason I said $100: I had another '05 two years ago and took it to one of my local dealers. I thought man, I am going to get them to scan for the code, (takes 5 min right, maybe I just looked stupid to them). I had given them all my services ie.. oil changes, services what ever! When I got the bill $89, I was too pissed to complain. Needless to say, I don't deal with them anymore. Back then, I did not have a resource like this forum. Thanks again. I will tackle the back seat as soon as I finish painting the kitchen

Depending on what all they did, that may have been a fair price.

Maybe! If they put it on the computer like the service writer said (5 min), then it was to much.

I agree that taking the back seat out is a royal pain. It took me about an hour to find the right spot to push in on the release.

I got my code! Thanks to all for the help. Special thanks to JMBdevotee and ARCuhTEK for the link and the "MY WAY" write up. It only took about 30 min. I was trying to go slow ( just feeling around the clips and making sure the metal did not cut my leather). Here is a little extra info that may be helpful to the next guy:
1) for the retaining bolts on the seatbelt cover I used a 10mm
2) I also used the part of the bracket, that runs perpindicular to the rest of the metal, as a guide to make my alignment up with the clip.
3) be sure to press down on the seat as you push in the clip then pull up (ARCuhTek describes this in his write up and I agree it is very important).
4) make sure you got those top clip aligned when you go to return the seat back, otherwise you will need to release those clips again

I will need to do this again when I go to replace my power window motor. The next time should be a lot easier.

Thanks again,

I found it much easier to just cut off the clips and just leave the u shaped cradle for the seat frame to set into. Those clips are not needed, the hooks on the back of the seat that go into the back wall will hold the seat in just fine. Then next time you need to pull the seat, it takes about 2 seconds.

You have to figure that little piece of plastic is not in there for safety? Good idea.

Zip-Tied mine and it works great - if you don't want to permanently disable the clips.
