Subscribing. My mech. buddy says we can rebuild these transmissions for around a $1000, depending on what's wrong with it.

[QUOTE=Tylus;3779075]Transmissions will only last as long as you abuse them

Unlike 99% on this forum (except a few with deeper pockets than me...Weazel, FX4Matt ), I was running 100+ more HP than all of y'all on my 2006. And then you got guys like AnahiemDrew with I think 40,000+ miles on a stock tranny pushing 400+ RWHP.

X2 still taking a licking and keeps on ticking with my new valve body it will cirp 2nd if its wet

Well, **** it looks like you might be right. Whilte it doesn't say don't service it it doesn't say you have to either. I always read it as "change fluid every 30k if equipped with 4R100 model" but I never bothered to view my model. I have 85k on my '06 and I have had it flushed once and serviced twice. lol I just had it done about a month ago. Luckily at Goodyear they still use Mercon V so I should be set.

Probably not if it has a gaping hole in the side of it though.

So what could possibly have happened internally to cause the trans to grenade like that?

I have over 103K on my trans and it has been abused about as bad as any. Towing 7k at 80mph, OD to 2nd down shifts(before new tune) WOT shift into OD, over 100 launches at the drag strip and pushing 489TQ to the tires. It is still going strong but I can feel the torque convert ballooning at the drag strip. Also I flushed the tranny at 50k when I installed the SC and have done nothing since.

thank you Huitt...sorry to leave ya out of the higher 04-08 HP gods on F150online.

it basically boils down to "Luck of the Draw" and abuse...I think Azmidget unfortunetaly got hit with a "luck" issue. Sucks

nope, just my luck, ive done 100% of the removal by my self but then needed help holding the engine while i loosened the torque converter(which is what stopped me from finishing the other day) so my dad jumps under there and strips a nut on the converter....so i spent couple hours trying to get that right but that sucker is on there good, and not much room. so my dad is going to bring some tool from his place on monday which should help get that one nut that is holding my transmission on off, i tried the other day to pull the trans and leave the converter on the flywheel but i couldnt get the trans to slide back enough....
