What type of truck do you have? Your bio is empty so we can't assist you.

Do you drive in crazy harsh desert conditions like extreme heat and/or dusty offroad conditions? Do you have a lift like a 6" Pro Comp with oversized tires? These will be hard on a transmission.

All these threads about ruined transmissions really worry me. It seems like there is at least one a week.

That's what she said. (would've been better had azmidget wrote "tranny" instead)
Exactly why I wrote trans

ok so the truck will drive but it pours out oil from what looks like either the pan or just above the pan on the passenger side

any ideas? if i need a new trans, where could i get one cheap or at least something a little better for a decent price? tasca has them for $1,600ish

ill probably do the swap myself, should i pull it out tomorrow and try to inspect it for damage or possibly a bad seal?

Well I have 35's and tow often. I got the truck with 65k on it (I installed the lift) but dont know how the previous owner treated it. The constant shifting in and out of overdrive at highway speeds killed me. I have 3.73s and will eventually get it regeared.

Look at how many of them are having problems just on this forum alone? I know many people in person (not on the forum) who have also had problems. Sure many haven't, but there really shouldn't be this many problems with them. MercedesTech took his apart and said the internals in them are super weak.
