Weekend at the beach

Finally got to use the 4x4, truck did awesome never had a problem. Buried it down pretty good one time in some deep sand and just clicked it in low and kept going. Gotta love having that switch on the dash. Great weekend overall!

Why is your truck wet in some pictures when there isnt a cloud in site?

I just got back from port o'connor fishing. Had one hell of a time. It was 175 miles from my door to the beach house we rented. I got 11.8 mpg hand calculated, lol.

Nothing like a trip to the Outer Banks....
We have been going to Avon and Buxton for over 20 years and never get tired of it. Maybe in September this year looking for Pompano...

Yeah, down at Oregon Inlet in Nags Head. You can't camp on the beach down there but the campground is just over the dunes and 100 feet away from the beach driving entrance.

Did you bring a pump to fill back up, or just go slow to the nearest gas station?

Last time I drove out there was in a friend's Explorer and we didn't air down at all, had no problems.

Nice, my wife's been talking about getting a few friends together and going to do that. Bring the dogs with us and all. Did you need reservations for the campgrounds? How much $/night?

Right across the road from the beach access is the fishing center and they have free air you can fill back up with. I didn't air down at first and had no problems but since this was my first time out on the sand I figured I'd do it and see if I could notice a difference which there was a little one but nothing huge. No reservations at the campsite but I think you can make some if you want too. Its $20 a night and you can have 2 cars and up to 6 people on a site. Its a fairly nice campground, very clean and the bathrooms and showers are nice. I'll be down next month for a ranger meet and probably again in the fall.

Nice pics, looks like you had fun. You have to be careful when it gets hot and dry for a weeks or so, the sand can be tough with stock tires unless you stay in a rutt.
