Question chrome door handles

Anyone try the adhesive style chrome door handles? Do they hold up long term?
Or is it worth it to just get the MarkLT OEM handles?

Stick on chrome covers are fairly cheap, whereas the LT's will cost you about 2 bills or more, depending on whether you need a set of 3 or 5 and what color you need. Check out this link

What makes the adhesive type cheap? I can really only think of 2 things that can be wrong with them... either the adhesive or the chrome fading or peeling. Has anyone had 1st hand experience with them thats willing to share their experience with it?

I went out and looked and I believe I have the stick on type handles. Not sure when they were put on but they seem to be very 'stuck' and wearing well. I didn't like them at first but do now. I also have the tail and head light chrome trim stick ons. Only one head light trim piece shows that it didn't get stuck real well but it still seems to be solid.

I bought the stick on ones. Thought they would be good. Chromed SS made by TFP. JUNK! The chrome is very thin. They pitted and turned green. They don't like MN winters. Any body know easy way to remove them?

Maybe you can try to heat them up with a heat gun to soften the adhesive and then use rubbing alcohol to remove the left over adhesive

I had the tfp ones on my 02 supercrew and had no problems with them. I seen the truck about a year ago and still they looked good. On our expedition I went with the putco plastic ones and they stood up good. If you go with the stick on one's make sure you clean the handle good before you install them.

humm... I wonder if I order the 3 passenger doors from that site and Order the driver with the keypad from tasca or something... and have them painted.. I wonder how much it would be to paint them

And the owner before me put the stick on handles on.. and the tailgate is turning out pretty bad and some of the other handles have scratches and pitting. Im not sure what brand they are tho... I wonder how hard it would be to get them off...

My truck had the Putco stick ons on it when I bought it. I decided to leave them on until I could afford some LT's but they're still looking good after 18 months.

I had the TFP ones my 03'. They were just polished SS. The ones I put on my 08' are chromed SS. Chrome is so thin that the road salt ate thru the outer layer and the copper layer started to turn green. If I can get them off I will just polish off the thin chrome.

The previous owner put those God forsaken stick on covers on my truck. They were a pain in the *** the take off, and now all the black plastic has outlines of where the 3M tape was.
