Inst Cluster Lens Replaced With No Issues

Quick Update,

Part# is F65Z-10887-AC
Cost $23.51 from my Local Ford Dealer (Dale Jarrett Ford)
Ordered via phone on Monday and it was in on Tuesday!

Part was exactly what I expected and start to finish took less than 45 minutes to replace.

I would suggest having a small vacuum and some compressed air handy to clean up any crud in the instrument cluster while it is open and use the compressed air to blow any dust off the new lens before install.

Take your time and it is a simple process.

Biggest new adventure for me was removal of the headlight switch assembly. It is detailed fairly well in the Haynes manual yet my F-150 does not have factory fog lights and the manual talks about the "fog light position" etc…...

Here is how I would describe the light switch panel removal process.

1) Remove the Negative and then Positive Batter Terminals

2) Grab a small Flat Bladed Screwdriver. (very small)

3) Turn switch to the Headlight ON position about 2:00

4) Gently pull the switch towards you away from the dash, it will NOT come off at this point

5) On the lower part of the **** (about the 7:00 position) there is a small slot that the screwdriver can slid up into

6) Insert the screwdriver into the slot. It will depress a small plastic clip and the **** should pull right off.

7) Take the **** you just removed and put it back on the post so it is seated in the opposite direction from when you removed it. It should be pointing to about 7:00.

8) Now gently turn the **** “counter clockwise” till you feel it stop. There will be slight tension.

This is retracting two small clips on the sides of the entire panel that will now allow you to slide the assembly out towards you.

After you do it once it will all make complete sense.

I have a 1997 Lariat and this is what worked for me.

As expected the crack started at the attachment point and the lower right was also starting to crack. I did not torque down the lens screws too hard and also added a small rubber washer between the lens and the hold down screw head.

If I had to replace this again in 12 years, I would just be happy I still had my truck to do it in!

Hope this helps if you have to replace your inst cluster lens or headlight switch………

Kinda seems strange that the Plexiglas in an 06 would crack... But at least you got it fixed relatively inexpensively

Is this the part number for the 97 or the 06?

I just bought my 05 and it has a burn / Melt mark in the lower corner and figured I would replace it when I replaced the bulb on my odometer.

Thanks

EDIT

Just called my Ford dealer and gave them my model 05 F150 FX4 and they came up with part number 4L3Z10890BA for 24.41 + shipping.
