Truck got broken into...
So, my truck got broken into last night. Didn't take anything, just opened her up, rifled through the centre console and glove compartment and left everything on the floor and seats. Both door handles have been damaged, though. It looks like they jammed a screw driver up underneath the door handle surrounds and pried them out from the door.
Is there some way this can be prevented in the future? I'm really pissed off right now.

Theres was a link to a site posted a few months back on here somewhere, basically you installed a plate inside the door to prevent the key hole from being punched, I dont know that this would help with going under the surround though?? Maybe someone will have a link to it.
But that really sucks man, people that will do that is just plain sorry and needs to be hunted down......

Sorry to hear about that. I've often wondered just how much more it would cost ford to use aluminum door handle surrounds instead of the plastic junk they put on these trucks!
Those are Jimmi' Jammers, and while they might keep people out of the truck, they won't keep them from tearing up the door handles.

Heh? I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. It's a Supercab, not a Supercrew.

In Canada, we can't use weapons to defend property, but seeing as the guy obviously had a screwdriver, I wouldn't have had a problem defending my life from a weapon with something a little more problematic -- for the thief.
I hope that doesn't happen. I'd move to AZ just for their relaxed gun laws.
I feel your pain. Mine was done last summer at a rec center with people everywhere in the day. They got into my truck through the drivers door key lock in seconds. I bought the rear handle with no key lock hole, and dremeled out the holes for the keypad. Then I started reading the way they got into yours, and shorting out the keypad way. I ended up going to kentwood ford on the north side and got them to install a Titian 2way alarm/starter. It cost me 799.00 +gst up front. There was No extra fees for anything.
Ya thats horse****. If you heard about that farmer east of Edmonton that caught some guy stealing his quad so he shot him in the leg with a shotgun, just to wound the guy and catch him, now the farmer is on trial for assault with a weapon! Friggin liberals man!!
I filed my police report an hour ago. At that time, they said there have been 8 reports filed, so far for vehicle break ins. They didn't rip anything out of the dashboard, just threw a couple of empty cd cases and papers on the ground. Took my DC->AC inverter out and left it on the console and just made a mess. Didn't take anything, though, that I can see. Stupid thieves.
