Lift Kit for 2005 SuperCrew F150
Hey I was looking for imformation on lift kits for my 2005 Ford F150 SuperCrew Lariat. I wanted to know how much to lift it and how good it would handle after I lift it. I would also like to know how much the mpg would change. Any information would be great!
How much? 2" 2.5" 3" 4" 6" 8" 12", what size Tires do you want to fit under there? Fabtech, Pro Comp, Rize their are a lot. Gas mileage gets affected by somewhat of the added weight. If you get a tune, and gears that are appropriate you can get same as you have now or possibly BETTER.
This belongs in the Suspension section but, the most popular way to go is a 6" lift with 20" wheels wrapped in 35x12.5 tires. You'll handle great, but if you have the 3.55 you might want to re-gear to 4.10 or 4.56 even, 3.73 can handle it quite well but it wont be a speedy truck, or good with fuel economy.
The smallest lift you can get is the Rancho 4", the 2" - 3" are leveling kits which are not true lifts, and a lifted truck geared with wheels & tires will not be better than an all stock truck, the stock truck will be more comfortable, better with economy, and faster.

It's still under "suspension lifts" on most websites. Oh and not always true, I've heard of some trucks gaining gas mileage after re-gear and tune even on larger tires.
Ah well I never hear that too often. Maybe some people get luckier than others with the right PSI, and other modification to help balance power.
Yeah he's running 37s on 4:10s and actually GAINED 1.5mpg.
