Paintless Dent Repair...Pretty Amazing

I just got my truck back from getting three dents removed. Two were in the tailgate (never throw straps in the back of your truck...gently lay them in there) and one was a nasty Wal-mart ding that some nimrod inflicted when the truck was about a month old.

Good news is the paint was not harmed and the dents are absolutely gone. I've been hearing about PDR (paintless dent repair) for several years but I was skeptical. I am totally amazed at the results and it only cost $100 for the three repairs.

If you've got any dents that you can't bare to look at I'd say try PDR. If they can't get to the dent or get it totally out there's always the conventional method to fall back on.

That's great!

I have to get the roof on my truck PDR'd due to a hailstorm. I'm going to pull the headliner before I have it done, cheaper.

Stealth...When you get ready to get the dents out let me know. This PDR guy lives just outside Marietta Ok. but goes from dealership to dealership and insurance company to insurance company in the southern Ok and North Tx area. I know earlier today he was in Decatur Tx at a dealership there before he did my truck at a local paint and body place here in Marietta. He's got an excellent reputation around here at the privately owned paint and body places too.

I'll try to hook you up.

The only ding I've ever had on my truck occurred in my own garage......

Fortunately, PDR worked great for me -- it's really pretty amazing......

Stealth- Make sure the headliner isn't glued to the roof. My brother worked in a L/M dealership (body) and the mechanics pulled the headliner on a Lincoln either to replace it or do something with it. It was glued to the roof in globs of something like Liquid Nails. When they pulled it out, they pulled down till it came loose. Needless to say, it pulled dents down all over the roof. The paintless dent guy quoted them $325. to do it and then worked all day on it. He'll be a little more careful next time he quotes a job like that I'll bet!

Right on.....

this is great to hear !

I can't stand dents and dings. I see sweet *** Mercedes and BMW's.... and F150's ;-) all the time with ugly *** dents and dings, and I'm always saying to myself, "Man, they need to do the PDR thing on that" ! ......yet I've never even done this myself ! Doh ! ;-)
But this is mainly because I've been really lucky with avoiding dents and dings. My car is 2 1/2 years old, and only has like two dings, that are so minor, you'd have to be shown where they are, and they would have to be in the right light to be visible. My 7 month old F150 has zero dings that I'm aware of..... but the first time some idiot puts a dent in it.... especially if "I'm the idiot" ;-) I'll be doing the PDR thing too.

Again, it's nice to hear about positive experiences with PDR.

Thanks,
Fish

How exactly does he go about removing dents without harming the paint?

They massage the dented metal from the inside.

Stealth have you tried dry ice on that hail damage? I got two really good sized dents out of my wifes van with it. I was skeptical but really had nothing to lose.

Also, and this sounds unreal, but a buddy told me you can get some dents out with a hair dryer and compressed air. He said you can heat the dent with a hair dryer (heat) then spray the canned compressed air (cold) on it and it will pop out.

A good friend of mine is the only person certified in the state to perform PDR on aircraft. Even though he is a full time aircraft mechanic he usually moonlights a little during the storm seasons on autos for extra cash. It's the only way to go if the paint is in tact.

Needless to say I get all my dents fixed for a couple of beers.
