Got a estimate for new injectors and plugs..

..and they want 1050.00 He said that they have only seen two F150 5.4's with stuck injectors and that it isn't really a common problem( in there opinion of course). So I get to thinking about this, how many 04-05 F150's are out there total? How many 04-05 members do we have here? What's the percentage of members that have had issues? What's the overall percentage of total sales of these trucks that have had this issue?

IDK, peace of mind sure would be nice but at 1050.00 I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

That's why I'm not going to worry about it. I have warranty anyway, but even in regards to plugs, my dealer (big dealer in Greater Toronto Area) has had zero broken plugs to the date I spoke to them.
Next time I'm there I'll inquire about the injectors. I want to find out if my truck is included in this injector issue, but I bet they tell me they've seen few, if any injector issues.

I have 84,000 on my truck and she is running great. I always stay in tune with my engine and if I feel it start missing, I will shut it down in a hurry. Who's to say that the ones you put in will not fail and there will be no warranty on them.

There is a post in Stealth's injector thread that lists all trucks included.

Found it:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/3688819-post39.html

ALL 05's FOR THESE PLANT HAVE THE EXTENDED COVERAGE
VEHICLES COVERED BY THIS PROGRAM
Vehicle Line Model Years Assembly Plant Production Dates
F-150 2005 Dearborn Assembly Plant
F-150 2005 Norfolk Assembly Plant
F-150 2005 Kansas City Assembly Plant
Expedition 2005 Michigan Truck Plant
Navigator 2005 Michigan Truck Plant
F-Super Duty 2005 Kentucky Truck Plant

The injctors are only on 5.4 not on the 4.6.

In some of the affected vehicles with 5.4L 3V engines, the fuel injectors may stick open or closed.
This concern could cause the check engine light to illuminate along with a hard starting and/or rough
running engine condition. In some instances, continued engine operation with a stuck open/closed
fuel injector could result in powertrain damage.

Indeed, it could be one big waste of money.
Knock on wood, my F150 is the smoothest running 04-08 I've driven to date, but I keep in tune with it as well. At least I'll know what to expect if it ever happens, but then the same can be said about any fuel injected vehicle.

Yes, I saw the letter Stealth posted but I still never received the letter so until I hear it from the horses mouth I'm not included in this injector dealio

Well, staying in the dark is no protection! I too, did not get the letter and assumed I was not included. Landon ran my VIN and I am included. So, not getting a letter probably means they just don't care about us.

I was told $300 for plugs also. My worry is after 120k the injectors go.

The problem is when an injector loses power and is in an open position, it leaks into the cylinder, causing hydrolock. You would think that they could design one that would close and stay closed, if it lost power.

Aren't the ones in our trucks a design flaw or something though? I would assume they would replace with new design just like the plugs, right?

I heard they were defective. Have not heard of any new design.

I'm the first one at my dealer that has had an engine lock up with a stuck injector. No I'm not honored. :o

HDXLT told me they've had to replace leaky 05 5.4 injectors before, but have never had one lock up before.

If you didn't get the letter, you're free and clear too buddy! Don't believe anything Stealth tells you he saw/heard at the dealer until you see it yourself

There's still hope!

If it were just Stealth, I would agree with you. But, Landon(HDXLT) looked it up, I trust him.
