What i'm still a bit sketchy on is how i want to wire it up. What is going to be the best way to use these horns? wire them in a just use the stock horn push in the steering wheel (turning off stock horn by switch when i wanted the air horns), or go with a pedal/button elsewhere?
I physically checked our two newest trucks this morning, BOTH use 1/4" plastic air line to the (truck) horns. In fact, on BOTH trucks the supply line to BOTH horns is 1/4" then tees off into two 1/4" lines to each horn.

1/2" tubing would give you more effective air storage if you ran that size BEFORE whatever valve you use. In this scenario you'd mount the valve as close as possible to the horns.

Oh yeah, a mech valve does give you the ability to make the horns "moan" when you're just screwing around or you wanna get someone's attention w/o pissing them off. Just FYI.

Heres how i did my set up matt
Switches, red one activates the compressor, black button activates the horns

Some poeple like to but it under the steering wheel, i perfer this, a little more custom look.

5 Gallon Tank

Semi truck horns

I got this comrpessor for pretty much nothing, so i dont expect it to last, im going to get a Viair or Air Zenith soon.

Solenoid.

I got all my parts mainly form work for free, but i bought the solenoid from a truck shop where we do alot of buisness at, so i didnt pay much for that, and got the compressor at harbor frieght, all in all i spent about 75 bucks for my set up, mind you i have all the fittings and hoses at work because dump trucks use air for brakes.

Heres a quick vid.

After all your pics and advice/recommendations how does all this look as far as working together/being a good setup?

Tank:

http://www.hornblasters.com/products...hp?item=TA-808

Compressor (480c or 450C):

http://www.hornblasters.com/products...y.php?class=19

Line: .25"

Solenoid:

http://www.projectresponder.com/pse/...e-Solenoid.htm

Misc.: Wire, couplers/fittings, teflon tape

How well do these setups do under the truck in all different conditions. I only ask cause i noticed on the 450c compressor it says lowest operating temp was 40deg..

Fx4 your also going to need a pressure switch to turn your compresor on and off . heres the kit i bought. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Viair...Q5fCompressors Its got a lot of stuff you'll like . You'll only need a solonoid, some kind of button, and air line for your horn .(I used 1/2"line ) With that kit, You'll be able to: (1) see how much air you have in your tank (2) turn your system on and off . All from inside your cab. plus have a nice hose to air up anything that might need air .

Funny that you said that . I noticed my compressor didn't seem right when it was cold this winter . But it was way colder that 40 deg. More like in the teens .MIne is not under the truck but it not headed in the bed either . Does the 480c have a lower temp rating?

Thanks for the link! How much air or blast time would that give the horn with just a 2.5 gal tank? I'm not sure on the 480c, I was going to check Viair site direct to check what horn blasters had listed.

A lot of place use crappy parts..... Honestly, Hornblasters kits are not bad for the price.. That is if you want to use their horns, but all in all the only thing I changed out on my kit was the air line. They used some ****ty hose and a metric size.. I had to redo my hose and a few connectors to make it fit standard 3/8 line form my solenoid to the 4 horns
