almost all the mirrors fronts are 1 piece. even the ones with power fold, turn signals, and heat. only if you have the 1/2 chrome cap or already have the painted mirror cap will it be 2 pcs. 07 & 08 mirrors are the same way. i have an 07 and mine are 1 solid piece. yes the whole mirror stays there, all the cover does it cover the backside of the mirror and hold the power motor. pop off the glass, remove the 4 torx screws, BAM!!! mirror cover will be off.

Did this amazing piece of art work in photoshop.

Pop piece 1 from piece 2 by using a small flat head screwdriver around the edge 3 .

i'll add to this. push in the bottom of the mirror glass as far as you can so that you can see the tabs easier. DO NOT pull on the glass, it will spider and break, trust me i know.

I'm trying to do this right now so I can start sanding on mine, but every time I stick the screwdriver down there and put pressure on there I can hear the mirror sounding like it's about to break. Should I just leave them on?

EDIT: I got them off and got the sanding done. They will be getting painted on Monday!

Here's mine, I did paint a part of the gap, say it's an U chanels, i painted to the first of the inner eged, stop there, that'd give the illusion a thick add on peice, instead of painted peice, some pics hope i can show it

I over tapped the bottom of the gap, and trim the tape out before and score that line again after painted, i can easily scraped out any unwanted paint in there to give a sharp clean finished line

I got the paint code (door's sticker) mine is 05 XLT pnt code yz, then bring to local paint shop they'd make a spray can for $20 buck, yes they match well, they do base, or clear mix in as you wish, i always want base a clear seperated 2 stages, better finish
