Exclamation ?'s On dropping my truck... Help!!!

Well like the title says, I purchased a western chassis 3/5 flip kit for my truck. I bought it used from craiglist for $50.00 and to my surprised the kit is complete. So I went to get an estimate done at a local shop, and the charge 450.00 to install. And for the times we're in I can't really spend that much. Plus that could buy more mods!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy I bought from said he and his buddies did it on a Sat. The kit didn't come with instructions so I've been searching online aand nothing. So I was hoping that maybe someone here could help me out on my project. The only thing I know I'm have to pay for is an alingment and a shop to swap out the front coils.

Any feedback is appreciated. Regardless of the info I'm trying tomarrow, so wish me luck.

The truck is a 2004 2wd and it has the towing package if that matters, Thanks once again

with a 5" in the rear, I'm assuming it's going to be a axle flip and a lift shackle. the flip will get you 6" of drop and the lift shackle will get you back to the 5" as well as getting the axle a bit further from the bumpstops. IF it is, that's just a bunch of muscle work. you may have to cut the bolt on the front spring on the gas tank side to drop the leaf. you'll go through a couple sawzall blades because those bolts are hardened steel. not really a big deal.

if the fronts are coils, you'll need a coil compressor, or to bring it to a shop that has one. the struts themselves aren't hard to pull, just the big bolt on the bottom and 3 studs up top.

it may do you good to stop by a NAPA and pick up the cam bolts needed to align the front end. they're expensive from ford, last time i checked they were $90 each but i think you can get them for 50 or 60 for both at NAPA.

Sounds like he covered it all, but I did mine myself and the most difficult thing was the bolt on the drivers side front of the leaf spring by the gas tank. Mine had lower control arms in the front so I did not have to mess with the springs at all, but there is a tool that compresses them and the auto part store might do a loan on a tool like that for you to borrow

You could also drop the tank instead of cutting that bolt. It's easy if you have some helping hands.

Use two jacks up front to get the coil out. At least thats how we did it on my '02. Never done a flip kit on the back, but from the few 2"/2" - 2"/4" drops I have done its like they say...muscle work.

The bolt will be the biggest challenge. Even if you cut it out you'll need to replace it. There's a reason why the bolt is reversed on that side. And that reason is the bolt can get close to the tank.

If you do replace the bolt, make sure to trim it with a sawzaw after the installation.

Thanks for the replies!!!!!

Well since I knew I was going to be doing the drop, I let my tank go almost empty. So I'll just remove it.

WELL WISH ME LUCK!!!!!

I'll take pictures on my step by step!!!

I'm not doing the hanger, so it drops it 6".

Also the guy that sold it to me said that he had a dune buggy that he loaded, so he bought " AIR SHOCKS" that he'd lower and raise with a compressor. He told me he bought them at Auto Zone, so I called and there 60.00 a piece. Does anyone know about these shocks?? Or have them!!
