Do these have tape on the backside or just the plastic rivets holding them on? I want to do the same thing but didn't know if it was a pain to get them off, or if I should just mask and do them on the truck?

I would rather take them off, if it is easy?

I'd like to know how to take them off too. I haven't looked too closely at them, but have thought about doing the same thing. But I had a couple questions if you dont mind

1. How hard are they to remove? Any tricks or tips to keep from breaking anything?

2. Which Duplicolor is it that matches the DSG paint? Did you have to go to any special paint store or was this at AutoZone or something similar?

3. I take it you used Duplicolor clear as well?

I've got some time off this weekend and I'd love to attempt the same thing. I hate how horrible the FX4 flares look after a wash and are fading and fading already in the few short months I've had it.

Thanks in advance for the help and it looks freakin awesome!

they dont have any tape on the backside. Just about ten clips on the inside and about 5 push pins which are a pain in the *** to get out. I broke a few in half so I just went to tractor supply and got some new push pins.

I just kept pulling on them and they pop off. My girlfriend threw away my empty spray can so I dont remember the exact paint code. But there was this other guy that painted his and he used T299 Duplicolor. I couldnt find that color so I had to use a different color. It was the smaller cans and was like DCS3301 or something like that. And I went to Meijers and picked it up, nothing special. And yes I used duplicolor clear coat, also nothing special.

Got one side off. What an @ss kicker. Once I figured it out I think I can get the other side off in the morning much faster.

I ended up cutting the heads off the plastic push in rivets and pushing them out through the front. I will just replace them. Also added a shot of WD40 to get the pin to come out. They are in there really good. Then 2 screw/bolts on each fender and viola, off they came.

Maybe I will take some photos and post up my experience tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it all done in a few hours. Not gonna sand them smooth, just enough to get the paint to stick.

Look dam good to me! Great job. I'm all for simple easy cheap ideas that spruce up the look of a truck! I want to do mine on my 06 FX4. Mine are Gray and fading fast, they look like cheap ad ons, on my black truck. I'd like to sand them smooth, has anyone on here ever done that? Cheers
