Getting an ipod, need PIE advice...
Getting an ipod, need PIE advice...
Well, my daughter is getting an Iphone and I am inheriting her Ipod. The thing is I do not know how to connect it to my 2005 F150 stock single CD deck on my truck, so I did some searching.
I have seen about doing the PIE adapter thing but never really paid much attention since I have no ipod. Well I will son have one and I have now done some searching like a good little Global Moderator.
I found this unit from the website that was linked in another PIE adapter thread, http://www.tss-radio.com/frd04aux-p-322.html and the P/N of FRD04-AUX, and I believe my stock deck meets the requirements since it has the AUX button, as specified.
First off, I think this is what I need but am not completely sure and I need some verification from you smart guys. Will I need any special cable to connect the ipod to it, if this is what I need? Also, is this a good price, if it's what I need?
Go ahead and treat me like a noob, I'm clueless. :o
Thanks for the help.

Looks good to me. You'll need a standard rca to stereo mini jack to hook up to the ipod. I would think that's kinda high for price, check ebay maybe... I paid that for mine 3 years ago.
Sorry, it comes with the cable for the ipod, but you might want to get a better cable, depending on how **** you are.

They make somethings that plug into the bottom of the ipod like the charger would and it is wireless so you tune it to a radio station and tune your radio to a station and it palys that way, works very well, I had someone using theirs and they were about 30 or 40 yards away and it still worked in my truck, I think they got it at Radioshack for like $20 or so.
Yeah that is what it is, from the one I heard it was very good, the one my fiance had in her car, was the one that plugged into the cigarette lighter, but it did not sound that good, and if I remember right, it tuned to AM, but not positive
i hate Fm modulators , the quality is good at some times then at other times you have other cars with them to worry about , so it gets staticy and sounds like chit .
get the pie thing, or better yet get a new H/U
thats what i did, got the D3 i love it. works great with the ipod

I was in the same boat not long ago but already had a PIE unit for my XM, this is what Logjam responded back to me with and what I needed to purchase to run my IPOD and keep it charged. You probably only need the second one unless you want to add XM or Sirius. You can email them with questions, customer service is very good. Hope this helps.
To keep your XM connected and add an iPOD interface that will charge the iPOD as well as directly connecting the audio with digital quality, you will need to purchase the AUX3, seen here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundaux3.html. This will convert the single auxiliary input you currently have to three auxiliary inputs. Then you will also need the UNi-POD universal iPOD interface, seen here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pieunipod.html, to connect the audio from the iPOD and charge the iPOD while connected.
