Well, I am thinking of selling my truck and getting something a little more family friendly since my wife and I are expecting a little girl in about 2 months, also our first.

I am thinking of getting a Excursion so that way I can still use it for towing and hauling, but also be easier to get the the little one in and out of and also leave room for taking our dog.

Went to nada.com and they had a price of 16,550 for retail sale and 14,400 for trade in. So then I search the net and found that there are a alot of 04 F150's for sale, but few with less than 50000 miles. I found a average asking price of around 17000 for 04 F150 4X4 Scabs mostly XLT's with less than 50000 miles.

So I was thinking of putting a price of 15,500 or 16,000 on it with all the goodies or putting it back to stock and they asking 14,000.
BTW my truck is a 04 FX4, Scab, flowthru console, leather, power pedals, towing package, nerfs. I have added 2.5" AS, 325/60/18 Nittos on 18X9 Maxx6 wheels, Edge Evo, Airaid Jr. intake, custom exhaust, truxedo Lo-Pro cover.

What do you guys think?

well if you do sell, try and get as much as possible obviously. i have no idea on a price you should sell it for but why not just get a 4 door f150, make it a little easier having a baby in the back but you can move all your mods over to the new truck.

I'd try to find an 08 screw, you can get amazing deals on them right now...the excursion isnt exactly a nice riding family friendly vehicle...it would be a big change from the f-150, plus you can swap over alot of your mods

I have thought about getting a Screw, but I can't find one like I want, either a Lariat or FX4 luxury. Also truck prices must have gone back up around here, since they are asking so much for 04's. But I have found a couple of Excursions for descent prices, a 04 XLT 4X4, 5.4L, with 55000miles for 12,700 and a 2001 fully loaded Limited (DVD, leather, ect) 4X4, 7.3L diesel, with 93000 miles for 12000.

This is just an idea I came up with last week, bored at work. My wife said that she doesn't care what we do, then said why don't we just keep the truck.

As for using the wifes car, that is what we are going to do most of the time. But she drives a Focus, so there isn't exactly a ton of room in there, kinda like my truck. So that was the reason for maybe going with a Excursion, for all the extra room.

Gut instinct says no excursion with the 5.4, it will be slow and suck gas like a ****. I have never owned one, but common sense would make that my guess. Aren't there anchor point for 2 baby seats in a scab? Keep the current truck.

I got a great deal on an 08 Screw XLT 2wd. I too have a child, and needed to get a 4-door vehicle. I had to get a truck! Good luck, whatever you end up doing.

08 SCrew was the way I went. You can still get $12K off, but you'll have to settle on what's left. Down here in TX, there are a bunch of $31K Texas/Oklahoma Edition XLTs left going for $18K.

Your 'extras' won't be worth a darn to the next buyer so I would remove what you can. Put it back to stock. Good luck.

My Scab works just fine for my daughter. I put the base in the center of the truck in the back and it fits well with plenty of room to mover the front seats.

However, I am interested in the edge, $200 + shipping

Granted i dont have a dog, my truck works fine to carry my friend & his g/f & their baby around when we all go somewhere. 04+ Supercabs have plenty of rear seat space for a child seat.

I'd just keep the truck. I have hauled my nephew numerous times in my 07 Scab and there is plenty of room and he is plenty secure.

I've driven an Excursion and hated it. It's huge inside but it felt big as well. At the time I was debating between the Excursion or the Expedition and did a couple test drives on both. I was so happy going with the Expedition; it has a lot of room yet still drives more like a 150 rather than the Excursion which felt like the 250. I think they're the same frame as the 250 as well.
If you don't go the Screw route look into the Expy's first; I think you'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the replys guys!! So far it looks like everyone is saying just keep my current truck. I happen to have this thread up in the computer and my wife walked in the room and read it, and she said "I think we should keep our truck, but its up to you."

I actually wish that I could find a F250/350 4X4 crew cab, ideally with the 7.3L. But all of them that I can have either been beat to crap with the interiors trashed, or have a pile of miles on them (150,000+). That is the reason that I am looking at an Excursion instead of a Expedition. And my wife doesn't like the looks of the Expedition and I am not a big fan of the body style either.
