Question on leveling kit

I see these are sold in pairs . Do I need a pair for front and back ?

Or just one pair ?

do they go on front or the back ?

I guess this is more than one question But I'm a little new to the forum.

Just one pair to level the front. If you want to lift the back as well they sell add a leafs or rear blocks. Go with Bilstein adjustables to level the front. They sell leveling kits that add a metal block that mount on to the top of the strut mount but the replacing the front shocks to level the truck will give you a better ride quality and the level look you want.

leveling kits come in sets of 2. and only for the front.

if you want more height out back you can buy an Add-a-leaf or blocks

leveling kit = $80 (roughly) + install charge

bilstein leveling shocks = $300 (roughly) + install charge

the install charge on the shocks will be higher since the coil-over will require disassembly. these are both jobs you can do in the driveway though if you are a wrencher

buy what your budget can afford. the shocks are nice, but if you have good shocks already, IMO you are throwing money away.

Are you serious??? That is ridiculous!!!!!!! I'm pretty sure you can find a shop that would do it for much less. How much are the shocks alone if you order them online? When I first got my truck I had a local shop install a 2.5" leveling kit. It was a few years ago, but if my memory serves me correctly it cost me $180 for the installation of the kit and alignment. (I think it was $80 for the alignment alone... so $100 to install the leveling kit.) The Bilsteins shouldn't cost that much more to install.

Why would you need a shop to install the shocks??? That's an easy job, even for the front coilovers. I can understand a shop doing the alignment, but that's only around $50 or so.

I think my main pet peve is having to take apart the spring and shock and then putting the bilstein one in and then recompressing it.

Anyone else have experience installing these?

Installing shocks isn't too hard. Just go to Autozone or Advance and borrow a spring compressor. They charge your card, then take off the charge when you return the tool.

Spring compressors are very simple to use. I had to use one to take my GF 2" drop coils out of my stockers and put them in the Eibach dampers. That was the easy part of the install.
