Replacing stock bulbs.....

I want to replace my stock bulbs and I'm looking for some opinions on what's the better bulb to go with. The three I've been looking at are the Silverstar, PIAA and the Vision-X. I want a bright white light, nothing blue. I've seen where some guys have have gone with a stronger bulb for the fogs, any problems with overheating and melting the housing? I run my parking lights and fogs during the day for running lights. And HID's are not in my budget. Any and all opinions will be appreciated, Thanks in advance......

Get some HID's they are worth the $$ I put in the Silverstar's and they were a little better over stock but HID's are awsome there about $100 a set

I currently have a set of Silverstars in my truck. I had thought about going to the HID's which I most likely eventually will, but I wanted some new headlights for until them. I love the Silverstars, they are great and definitely make a great difference over the stock bulbs. They offer a great low beam, but what is really great on them is the high beam.

They are very bright, and on occasion if I'm coming over a hill or bump and there is traffic coming at me a little ways off they will flash me because the low beams are pretty bright. I have them aimed well it's just on hills and large bumps. I don't get it too often though, I have had them on since early July and probably only been flashed 4 times probably.

I myself seem to be getting the "flash" a lot. I recently installed the hella black OEM head lights with a set of Piaa H13 bulbs. I aimed them according to my owners manual, might have to aim them lower.....

I have the H13 Silverstars in my heads and also upgraded to 9005 silverstars (9145 are stock size). The heads were a good improvement over the stocker. The fogs were a night and day differance over stock. I havn't had any issues with fogs getting too hot and causing harm to the wiring or lense.

PHS79, would the 9006's work from www.piaa.com in our fogs rather than the 9005? They produce less wattage then the 9005's and I think they would be the same body style....? I'm just thinking about heat right now...

Good question, I honestly couldn't tell you, I never looked at the 9006. I guess someone would have to compare the connector and also the mount flanges.

I was going to put the 9145 silverstars in, then I found out that the 9005's would fit and had greater out put so I went with them. I know that the 9005's are a high beam bulb, but I live in a rural area so I was not worried about blinding people with them. I have been running the 9005's for over 2 yrs and I havn't had any problems yet.

So you have the 9005's in your fogs or heads? I'm a bit confused. I was just asking because I plan on upgrading the fog bulbs this week sometime so I'm trying to figure out which bulbs I need to buy.

I have the H13 in the heads and 9005 in the fogs. 9145 is actually the correct part for the fogs, but the 9005's will fit and also provide more light since thy are actually a high beam bulb that just happens to fit.

Alright, and those bulbs aren't bad for the fogs then on brighting people. I didn't know since they were low if they would still be bright for some people.

If you are getting flashed alot you can adjust your fogs lights down towards the ground or just get the 9145. I had do adjust my heads and fogs when I put in the AS kit, but now that the rear of my truck is raise I have to adjust them back up alittle bit.

Is the Silverstar a true white light? I'm not looking for lights with the blue tint to them. Does anyone know if the Ultra's will soon be available?

How much of a difference in watts from the Silverstar 9005 to the PIAA 9006?

I also wanted to get some Ultras for the F-150 but they were way to hard to find in california. So I just went with Vision-X H13 (headlights) and 9005 (Fogs).

They do have a slight blue tint to them but man the difference they made especially the fogs, if you are going to get the H13 make sure you get the 9005's!

-One day I can see my self buying HID's for the headlights and fogs, but they are quite expensive. I would get a legitmate company such as Retro-Hid. For now, im very pleased with the Vision-X bulbs but if you want the best and brightest lights just save up until you can get a pair of HID's.
