Had enough with MC Battery

I had my battery replaced about a year ago in my truck and my truck has set since tuesday evening because I had shouilder surgery and been on pain meds. This morning i go to crank it and the battery is dead. I've already had a draw test done when the battery was replaced. I'm going to buy an Optima and not have to worry about it anymore.
I go to optima's website and punch in my truck info and get the following results:

Group # Description
25 (8025-160) RedTop®; Battery;
34 (8002-002) RedTop®; Battery;
34/78 (8004-003) RedTop®; Battery;
75/25 (8022-091) RedTop®; Battery;
D34 (8012-021) YellowTop®; Deep Cycle Battery;
D34/78 (8014-045) YellowTop®; Deep Cycle Battery;
D75/25 (8042-218) YellowTop®; Deep Cycle Battery;

Whats the difference between them and what can i expect to pay?

I can't tell you the exact difference, but I know the yellow ones are the most expensive, and are deep cycle batteries. From what I know, any Optima battery is going to be a much better choice than the factory one. I would say the red top would be sufficient for most folks' needs. I can say, that we put the yellow tops in our fleet vehicles, and since, we have gone from jumping a car once a month, to well, I think I remember having to jump once in the three years that we have run the yellow Optimas.

Off topic: I was thinking of going with the same tire size on my 17" wheels, but using an AS 2" leveling kit instead of the 2.5". Do you have any rubbing with your setup?

Excelent example of backing up your claims for the always present naysayers.

If you don't run several add on things (i.e. sound system, lights, etc...) red top is good. If you do run those things go yellow. I myself went from jumping my truck once a week to only needing to every great once in a while. But that's only been when I've left something on. i.e. power inverter, sound system, etc...

I've been doing some checking around and best price i've gotten is 169 for a red top. Thats a little much i think. My local costco warehouse has a "Kirkland Signature Series (Their brand) for 75 with a 5 yr warranty. I'll probably just go with that seeing i can buy 2 of those for one optima

Well from what i remember, the MC batteries are like 650 cca or something stupid like that. If the battery isn't brand new, you'll be jumping it in the winter. You can easily purchase a 1000 cca battery from any auto parts store that will do just fine.

$100 for a 1,050 (roughly) battery. it's 800 CCA

Optima are a waste of money unless you are running alot of stuff. The batteries of today are all pretty much equal to quality and longevity

I picked up a battery from Autozone like 3 years ago. I think it was a Duralast Gold or something. 1000CCA. I believe I paid like 70 bucks for it. Have never had to jump it.

Hopefully the battery will fix your issue.

I have had good luck with the stock battery. Its now 2.5 years old in ownership, and when I had my amp hooked up wrong, I drained it several times to where it wouldnt even unlock the doors. I thought for sure that I would have killed it, but its working great so far.

I had to put the charger on my truck last night. The truck had sat for almost 3 weeks in my unheated garage with outside temps (averaging highs and lows) of around 8-10deg. I tried to start the truck yesterday afternoon and it cranked over twice then nothing, so I put the charger on at 2amps for about 4 hours and it popped right off. My next trip to town I am going to have to get a new battery, but mine did pretty good since it is still the one that came in the truck from the factory back in 04.

I'll give you two e-mail addresses. You can e-mail them and ask'em what they thought of their redtops

Put it this way, they don't use Optima anymore.

My oem battery only lasted 2yrs and 11 days, at 32K it died. That was on Feb 8, 08. I bought the truck brand new in Jan 28, 06 as a 05 left over.

Now the replacement must be getting weak. I had the truck sitting for 2 weeks at most and had to jump it.

Ive used optimas without any problems, but the climate that I live in doesnt get as extreme as some of yall deal with.

I had a yellow top in my Explorer and I just recently replaced my stocker with a red top
