Window problem

hey guys, im having problems with my left windows, both driver and rear.
they go down nice, but when i try pulling them up i have to hit the switch a couple times before the window actually moves. the right windows(passanger and rear) work fine, just the left two. i was thinking maybe the switch. so i popped it open and checked if a pin might have been broken, but they look good and theyre clean. does anybody know what might be the problem?

tia

If you still have a warranty have the dealer change out the master switch. Mine was doing the same thing, had a mind of its own. Had to fiddle with it to get it to go up. When I took it in they acted like it was a common problem. Of course they didn't say what if anything was wrong with it. I'm guessing they didn't even bother checking it out and just put a new one in. The new switch has a more positive feel to it though.

a new part from dealer is about $50, i've bought one.

My truck has the same problem, what I do is take the switch apart, and get a sharp knife to scrape off the corrosion on the small metal round contacts (both top n bottom). Once i do that, the windows work fine again. hope that helps...

They didn't put a cost for the part down on my invoice or I would tell you, it just says under warranty. You'll have to call on that one. My old switch felt soft like there wasn't much detent when pressing the switch in the up position. When I pressed down on it to return the window to the up position it didn't feel like it clicked at the bottom. The new one has a solid rocker type feel to it, you can feel the detent. I know it's one of those items that you'd like to take apart and see whats up inside but...if it jams up and doesn't work anymore... Hope it doesn't cost too much to replace.

How long did your new one last after you bought it or was that the old one you took apart? You'd think that even an '04 shouldn't have problems that soon much less an '06. Guess I'll see how far this one gets me.

I had the dealer replace mine two days ago. Had that problem with the driver door and the right rear. They didn't tell me the problem, they just replaced it. Didn't even ask me a question.

Btw, you guys might want to check with your dealer. While I was in there, they told me there was a recall on the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose.

Yeah I'll get back to ya as soon as I know more. I figure switches, but its weird cause I have a switch on one of the back doors that does that too.

I think this is a pretty common issue with these trucks because mine is doing it as well. The passenger window will go down using the passenger window controls, but it won't go back up. I have to use the controls on the driver's side to raise the window back up. Thankfully I'm at 35,820 so got a tiny bit of warranty left so I'll be taking the truck in soon.

I am having the same problem, except it is on all 4 windows. The driver set is the only set of switches that will roll all 4 windows up. Does anyone know if putting in the new switch fixes the problem for a short time or permanetly? It would suck to have to do this every couple of years.
