I totally agree with you. I would never trade my 08 for an 09. As far as looks go for the 09 I think Ford made a mistake with the grill, heads and tails IMO.

I agree with RockPick. The 2009 wins handsdown. The old gens were great "back in the day", but if you right now put a 2008 next to a 2009 and I had to take one of the two. I would have to be very stupid to take the 08.

I hate the 09's because I can't afford to upgrade a new one to the same configuration as mine. Someone drop me a cool $15k please.

Sure thing, even as much as I love my 2008, sure.. I would take the 2009 over it as well (if they were the same price).. most of my issues are with the new F-150 were purely cosmetic, but that could easily be fixed, as shown with the 8" Rize truck, and the Raptor.. with new headlights/tailights and etc.. I'm not arguing whether or not the 2009 is the better truck.. because it is

Problem is, it's not as simple as simply picking between then two, they aren't the same price. I'm not gonna poke fun at how intelligent you may or may not be, but a person in general, would be stupid not to take a 2008 right now.. With discounts up to $15,000 in most places.. even with all of the upgrades, the 2009 just can't amount to the price difference..

If you can afford the luxury of spending the extra coin, and truly want the better truck, then by all means go for it.. but if that's the case.. you might as well buy a SuperDuty.. Heck, with the discounts being just as deep on 08 SuperDuties as they are on 08 F-150s.. You can pick up a 2008 SuperDuty V10 FX4 for well under the price of an 09 F-150 FX4.. Dollar for dollar, you might as well pick up a SuperDuty diesel, with discounts, it would still be cheaper than a 2009 F-150.. but thats an entirely different "debate" all together..

I thought we were talking about the trucks, not prices. Base to base, the price of the 2009 truck is about the same as the 2008 and you get more standard equipment with the 2009. You'll get a bigger discount on the 2008, but you will have a lot less selection. So I feel that is a wash. Might as well buy a Super Duty? Now you are going totally off topic. lol. I like your truck by the way. It is very nice.

Still not used to the look of the 09, even though it looks remarkably like the 08.

lol thanks .. I can see how there might not be a huge selection of F-150s up north or elsewhere, but down here in Texas, there are still plenty to choose from.. There's a Ford dealership around every corner, and they're still loaded with F-150s..

I was trying to compare the entire picture with the 2 trucks.. even if you broke it down into 3 categories of pricing, performace, and styling.. the 2008 would still win 2/3 in my book.. I always said the 2009s were an improvement in performance over the 2008s, just not enough to warrant a person to pass up the huge incentives on an 08..

in the end.. dollar for dollar, you get more truck for your buck with a 2008..

In truth, you wouldn't get "more truck for your buck" with the 08. You would get "less truck, for a little less buck." If price is everything to you, you can use an A or X plan to save several thousands of dollar plus get another $2000 cash back and get more features standard on the 09.
