Happy with my '08
Happy with my '08
So Far I have been extremely happy with my 2008 FX4. My fuel economy has been better than expected and I am not too crazy with the looks of the '09. I don't know if anybody else has noticed this but the payload has actually decreased for the supercrews for the '09 model by as much as 100 pounds for the shorter wheel base screw. This is according to fordvehicles.com specs. I understand that the '09 screws have a longer wheel base so this will inevitably lead to more weight but I am of the school of the more payload the better. These trucks are already heavy enough as it is so I am looking for maximum payload out of a supercrew so I will stick with my '08. Just my thoughts.:o
I agree, I love my 07 for looks, performance, everything. While I like the new 09's, not enough has changed in the looks or performance part to justify getting rid of my 07. I'll wait for a complete re-design (like the 97-03/04-08's) before I buy a new f-150
Congrats man. Post some pictures!
I'm happy with my '04, though I wish I had the 06+ round fog bumper and I wish it was Lariat. Since mine is the risky truck for the spark plug issue and some things, I'll run it until it dies, and either fix it, or upgrade to the '09 possibly if the money is right. It took me this long to get a '04 F150, and I would imagine it lasting me a few more years in great condition.

I'm also happy with my 08 4.6L 4x4. Get 20 mpg with out a load, about 17 with a full load of oak firewood. Traded my 2001 5.4L 4x4 with 68000 miles. Difference was $13.2K. What can you get new for that kind of money?
Just did my first oil change, be prepaired for a fight geting the oil filter off!!! Factory puts it on DRY & TORQUES it down. Its not a FL-820, so if you have a cup wrench it wont fit. Lots of posts on this subject!
Also filled up the differentials with gear oil. I always fill it so its driping out the plug hole. Put 1/2 a quart in the rear, about 1/4 a quart in the front.
Then I used a grease needle & Valvoline full synthetic grease to lube the upper / lower balljoints and the two tierod ends. Thers was a lot of air in the boots before I filled them with grease.
No grease fitings since its a rack & pinon.
Any other proactive maintenance tips out there???
