Yeah, you can get the glass from the dealer. I had a thread with pics of the procedure on here somewhere. If it takes you longer than 20 seconds to do the entire dealio, you're doing something wrong. It shouldn't cost more than 30 bux, and the new mirror comes already attached to the backplate.

ordered mirror from local ford for $25, people keep telling me that its not the same part if you have heated mirrors, but oh well, Ford can pay for the difference if this one breaks because of it or something.

Now i just need to figure out how i managed to pop the glass holding case out before when i hit the branch so i dont have to take apart the whole door

I don't have heated mirrors, but I believe the only difference is that the mirror will have an electrical plug which you simply reconnect to the harness.

If you like, I still have the pics of my mirror change on my laptop at home. I could post them for you this evening. Let me know.

I'll get on it this evening. It's very simple, and once you take your broken one off (just get your fingers behind it and pull) you'll see how easy it is to replace it with the new one.
When installing the new one, just make sure you push from the very center of the glass until you here it snap into place. Done!

And put a shop towel between the glass and your hand just in case you push too hard.

Thanks guys, that would help.

Definitely can't forget a towel or the girl will have my head about it.

Short Story: "During the summer, I went to a show at seaside and parked to close to the curb by accident and rubbed my front chrome rim on it and then i got out and went to see how bad and touched the chrome, which cut my finger so deep that it wouldn't stop bleeding for hours. I was walking around with 2 or 3 paper towels wrapped around that finger lol. I learnt my lesson. Never thought chrome pieces could do so much damage.

Oh man I'm sorry. I completely forgot. I hate when people do that, and here I am doing it myself. Was just going to do some oil changes but I'll slide upstairs and find those pics now.
I'll get them up ASAP.

I did that once. IMO, you're better off getting a quality finished Ford part that already has the backplate just as they're put on in the factory. When I had one cut for my Dodge, the glass eventually started going black and stained from inside the glass. It looked like crap.
