I did look at the diesel Jetta this summer. I think the Rabbit and Jetta are similar. VW does a nice job with the diesel engine, I was impressed. The dealer had none in stock, so I would have to put my name on a waiting list behind 25 people. The dealership expected to get 5 per month to fill that list. There was one 2006 diesel Jetta on the lot with about 60k. The sticker was only 2k less than the new 08.

Good choice and a great bang for the buck. I'm a VW nut at heart. I sold my 06 GTI DSG to get the F150 and miss it all the time. Some people do need a truck full time but gas does put a pinch in the wallet. That's why I have this also.

81 Rabbit truck

I have since put a new radiator support and doing the body work now. 1.6 liter gas with a 4 speed manual.

Here's a pic of my GTI before I sold it.

My god is that the truth!

My sister had a 2003 Jetta....it was the BIGGEST pile of sh*t after 3 years. The temp sensor would blink and the service department said its normal. The air went out at 55K miles, the thermostat went bad on it 4 times, it needed a tune up at 30K.....There was a horrible rattle on cold starts that the dealer said was normal....the list goes on on on.

I would NEVER buy a VW!

woow.. and here i am wanting to get a truck so bad since 8 month, and im getting closer. if u dont have a house where u work on then a truck is not really for u .. but i think if u have a house and kids and maybe dogs. a truck is very helpfull. i do agree that the gass prices are hard on all of us. it will get harder but i need a truck and even a ranger would not do it. so.... but i have to say a nice sports car like the mustang or a bettle wouldnt be bad... like i said i do have two dogs and a small hosue.. so i have no other choice

I know I'll catch some flack for this...

Another option is a Variant "aka wagon". Here is a pic of my past VW Passat. Lots of room and easy on the eys. It was a 4 Motion "all wheel drive".

Well if I had of know that all most of you were going to do is post your distain and what appears to be hatred towards VW I would have kept the news to myself. Rabbits are made in Germany FYI. I am also not concerned with being in a crash, this thing is safe as can be, don't make judgements based on size. Trust me in my line of work I have seen plenty of dead people in F-150's, probably just as many as any other type of vehicle....... I am happy with the decision I made, thats all that really matters anyway.

Actually, that "bad quality Mexico" label isn't always true. The Ford Fusion is made in Mexico, and we all know it's at the top of the list for initial quality. It's all about quality control.

Two work mates had brand new VW Golfs. VW, or any German made car for that matter are known for their electrical nightmares. Both my work mates dumped their VW's because they spent more time in the shop than on the road. Those are only two people amongst a few others that I know of that had problems with their VW's. Who wants to spend time at the dealer taking their vehicle in for warranty work all the time? It's a major PIA. I went through that with my last GM. Never again.

Nice purchase man! Sometimes we got to give up something sbut get better things in return. I am looking at a R32 yet my bank will like the GTI more for price also for better MPG yet keeping my truck. My GF has a Jetta fully loaded with the 2.5 motor and tip tronic great little car and has some ***** as well.
