Which year is best

Hello folks,
I'm normally just a lurker around here, taking in much of the good info provided. Great site! I think I finally have a question worth asking.
Someone made me an offer on my 03 4x4 Heritage I couldn't refuse so I let it go. Now I am on the look out for another truck. What I would like to know is out of the 04 to 07 years is there any one year that stands out as a must have. Any refinements made throughout these years that I should consider when purchasing. I'll be looking for a FX4 or a Lariat. All opinions welcome.

Thanks a bunch
Allan

I would go with an '06 or '07, Ford got the bug's out by then.

x3 on that. and the 07+ trucks get the PTM mirrors and door handles. otherwise, I think a 06 is the best compromise of reliability and price

007 is treating me good. I would try and avoid 04 and 05. Not that they are bad years, just still some bugs that got worked out.

Mine! No I really don't know as our truck is just too new. Listen to Tylus though. I've read a number of his posts and he seems to have his head on straight.

Ironically, my last three vehicles have been first model year Ford's. I had a 99GT, an 02 Explorer, and now my 04 F150. None of them had any major problems or "bugs" but maybe I just got lucky. With the deals out there right now on full size trucks you should be able to score a newer model for real cheap.

'06! Then again I am biased since that's what I have! No problems whatsoever after 2 plus years.

I've had three first year of a new model(3 company vehicles ordered before I saw one) and none were bad. I had four company vehicles that were not first year that were very problematic (half GM and half Ford).

I would not worry about the year but I would buy based on vehicle condition and price.

Thanks for all the reply's fellas. I'll see what I can find in an 06/07. The only good thing about the high gas prices is it's made these truck more afordable.

See? Stay away from the 05's!

My 05 is like an 06 due to late build date, but regardless I haven't had anything other than a couple of quick and easy fixes.

Where abouts north of 60 might you be? The Territories?
