Rear Brake Pads Completly Shot at 56k Miles

Well I had some grinding so I looked at my rear pads. Took the right side off first and it was metal on metal the left wasnt so bad. Is this normal for the rear to go out so soon? Ive never towed anything.

yes

you have 4 wheel disc brakes now...and the rears do just as much stopping as the fronts. I'm actually surprised you made it past 40,000 miles.

long time on 1 set of pads...hardly soon

56k is so soon? LOL

My rears were nearly worn after only 16k. My dad used to have an 04 XLT and his rears were gone after 22k.

I guess you missed all the prior posts on here about how everyone's rears have been wearing out pretty quick and before the front pads...

56 thousand miles and you were wondering if it's too soon? Am I missing something?

Ive had 7 trucks now and have never had to replace the rear till at least over 100k miles. The front would have to be changed twice before the rear.

Aren’t these brake pads supposed to squeak first? My front brakes skipped straight to grinding. My rears are ok so far at 42k but I think I'll change them since these OEM crap pads give no warning.

my fronts never squeaked either. My rears barley made it to 63,000 with minimal towing time

They changed the electronic brake distribution on the 04's-up so the rears get used more now.

56000 miles on brake pads = new tranny at 75000 miles.
