Has anyone done better? 08' XLT?

Buying my dad a truck. 08 XLT 2wheel drive, with trailer package, 6 disk, yada yada... MSRP is 34.5k, buying it for 22.3K. Just wondering if anyone has gotten a better deal than this. The salesman tried to tell me that Hurricane Ike has caused trucks to be more in demand. I replied that we should not really even be talking about the 08's, we should be talking about an 09'. Looks like before discounts, the truck price started at 31k. I saw where the X plan gets another 1000 off. Any idea on how to get this?

If you're stating $22,300 Out The Door, that would be a pretty darn good buy. Truck sales are still hurting badly. The dealer giving you a line about hurricanes is taking you for a ride– big time. I've seen Dodge pickup ads for several weeks advertising at least 40% off MSRP.

Obviously, if you're financing 80-90% of the total, you won't have the best leverage, but they are hurt hurt hurting– and that's the bottom line. Make offers for an OUT THE DOOR price, and always be prepared to walk out. I bought a used, lease return '07 XLT 5.4 S-Cab 2WD, tow package, limited slip, backup sensors, 6 months ago, in extremely fine shape with less than 15,000 on the odometer for 19,300 OTD. I probably could've done better, but finding a nice 5.4 S-cab with a 6.5' bed and limited slip proved difficult. Far too many S-crews with 5.5' beds available though, which I did not want.

I bought my 08 used with 4500 miles on it for 19 two months ago. If yours is a SuperCrew, its pretty much the same truck.

22.3k was not out the door...Wish it was

They are taking over 12k off the sticker, but the way I see it, is that the truck is way over priced. Ford trucks have increased in price about 30% over the past eight years. Claiming inflation, is BS in my book.

Anywho, any one understand or know anything about the X plan?

Didn't do any better, but got pretty much the same deal as you on my new XLT. 34K MSRP truck from about 22-something IIRC. Employee pricing, bunch of rebates and incentives, $750 private offer rebate, loyalty program rebate, $500 for mentioning some local radio show, blah blah. They're full of crap with any claim that "trucks are suddenly back in demand". There's some dealerships here in Texas who won't accept any trucks as trade-ins and SOME are still trying to get rid of 07's. They've been pitching the **** and bull line about the the deals ending and time running out and supply matching demand every month since June at least. Wishful thinking. Its pretty good time to get a truck if you can afford the gas, although I agree they were basically just charging about 12 G's too many when you were expected to **** $34,000 just to get into an XLT.

^^^In 00', The Lariat, 5.4 engine,4x4 and loaded, stickered for under 32k.

Gas is not really an issue for my Dad, he's an old fart, not gonna drive much, and wants the protection of a LARGE vehicle. Both my parents are moving from Midland... and settling here in DFW. Its gonna be a huge change for both of them.

Good choice. My parents drive large vehicles. Dad still commutes in a 94 suburban with over a 1/4 million miles on it, and my Mom drives an 00 F250 supercrew 5.4. Dad has been in a few fenderbenders in the suburban, protected him well. Better to protect them with a larger vehicle.

Southwest Ford in Weatherford were advertising $14,000 of sticker. Claimed they had a lot full. That might be the case, or when you got there, they might have all been sold.

I will give them a holler tomorrow, thanks.

Got a BS advertisement in the mail about 50 percent off trucks somewhere in Dallas. It started me looking for F150's.

Go for it!!!

I bought my XLT supercab for $21500 and the sticker was $31030. It is equipped with 5.4L, limited slip, tow package, and some more stuff that came with something they called the Texas/Oklahoma package. Or actually it was a bunch of extra stuff they throw on and then give you a $1235 discount.

My deal was actually dealer invoice less rebates which at the time amounted to $5506.

It sounds like your getting a pretty solid deal. The only bad part of buying this late in the year is all the '08s are pretty much picked over so it's hard to find one that's equipped exactly like you want it. I know it took a couple of months to find an XLT supercab that just happened to have a 5.4, limited slip and towing package. I actually found one before the one I'm presently driving and the motor blew while I was taking it on test drive number two. It happened as I was driving back to the dealership and ready to sign on the dotted line. That was a little disconcerting to say the least.

One more great thing about an '08 instead of an '09...they actually have some good styling!!!

If they asked where you heard it, it was on 92.1, Legends Radio, Fort Worth.

Yeah Shinesintx...If you want to see just how good the '04-'08 models can look just take a look at bluejay's album of that F150 rolling on those pretty Roush 20's.

I'm seriously thinkin' about sneaking across the river one of these night with a couple of floorjacks and a lug-wrench...heads up bluejay!!!
