Yeah I liked the 08 styling a lot better. I appreciate the technical improvements in the 09s, but hate that front end. I think its part of Ford strategery that they're only going to be able to sell these chintzy new mini-trucks and have to make a regular truck look like a super duty to sell it to that crowd. Super Duty's have their own cool factor, but no way do I want my F150 to look like a crappy rip-off version of one.

And yeah a nice big truck is a lot safer, especially here in DFW, gas prices be d@mned. I have a sizeable commute, travel a lot of roads with a lot of morons. No way am I driving around in some fartknocker soda can import.

the X-plan is basically a discount for employee from ford. for example my dad works for a consulting firm that consults Ford on their money. he gets the X-plan from ford when he buys a truck. He bought my F-150 that had MSRP of 32k and we ended up getting it for 26k. that was before the bad truck market hit and with some other incentives. He bought a kings ranch expidition EL that was stickered at 51k and he ended up getting 14k off the sticker price with his x-plan, loyalty program, dealer discounts etc....

midnight is right, but I wanted to add if you know someone who qualifies for the plan they can put you in the computer and get you a password (series of numbers). When you get to the dealership they look you up and then you get the employee "friends and family" price which is a small percentage below invoice. So the plan covers more than just the immediate employee. Also, you have to let the dealer know ahead of time that you are an X plan participant.
I got my new 08 3 weeks ago. I'm not a huge fan of haggling, so it saves time. These days though you might get a better deal fighting it out if they have a bunch sitting there.

Not entirely correct. The X plan price is 4% above A plan price (Ford employee price).

A Plan
Active full-time Ford employees

Z Plan
Retired Ford employees

A&Z Plan
Spouse and spouse's parents, sons and daughters
(including in-laws and step children), grandchildren, most surviving spouses of retirees

X Plan
Employees (full-time, part-time, and contract), retirees and their spouses of eligible partner companies (suppliers, fleets, etc.) and universities where Ford recruits. Members and spouses of selected organizations/associations with close strategic ties for Ford Motor Company.

Picked up the 08 XLT, with limited slip, 4.6, and leather for 24.5K out the door. Tint was also added at no charge, and it also had the tan rocker panels with white paint. Overall very happy, 9,100 in rebates, and 3k below msrp. My dad is gonna be stoked when he sees it. I am 38, and he has never had a new vehicle. Just happy, and wanting to share.

I paid 23k OTD on my truck, sticker was 31,900 i think. Not a bad deal since trucks were in high demand when i bought mine. I lucked out that the 2004s just came out and I was buying a truck that was the old body style....

Also helped that i put 6k down on it too, so only financed 17k

Roughly speaking, mine was $42.4k with a bed extender, I agreed to pay $29.1k.

The paperwork said 35.5k selling price minus 8k in bonus plus 2k charge of bonus.

On paper it appears I paid more than I agreed to. There was a $500 mistake which I failed to find this time.
