odd minor vibration over 45MPH
hey guys, today i was driving home from work on the highway ike i have been the past week and a half with the lift but today i realized once i got over 45MPH i could feel just a slight vibration, at first i figured it was the tires but i really have never felt it before and i've drivin on the highway a good amount since the lift. then as cars drove past me i could hear a slight noise it seemed to be coming from the drivers side, i cant really explain what the noise was, it was very faint but i could tell it was there, like if you drive off to the shoulder on the highway some shoulders have the washboard like dips on the side to warn you if your going off to the shoulder, if was kind of a sound like that but very quiet.
Maybe im just being paranoid but the ride felt different today than it did 2 days ago on the highway.
Any suggestions?

My dad's 04 is doing the same thing. Here is what we are investigating as causes.
1) Wheel Bearing
2) Tires
3) Brakes
If you have a set of tires, swap those first or swap front to rear. The wheel bearing is easy enough to replace. Note that the spindle nut says to use only once. I've never seen that before.
Warped rotors can cause a vibration.

Alright i seen that the CV boot is slit at the outter boot ( towards the wheel) and the grease is coming from there.
Now does anyone now if its alright to drive around with it like that? I mean i know i will need a new CV im going to buy one but for the next two days will it be okay if i drive through the streets (no highway). It wont lock up or anything will it?

just stay out of 4x4 until you can get a new cv joint and boot

although...if you have a bad IWE...it could be spinning that cv joint and that is what caused the problem in the first place.
mark your halfshaft and front driveshaft with chalk or marker. then drive in 4x2 a few hundred feet and inspect. hopefully the halfshaft and driveshaft are in the same place

the new auto hub is called an IWE (Integrated Wheel End). It operates off of a vacuum
motor on, switch in 4x2 = 4x2 drive
motor on, switch in 4x4 = 4x4 drive
motor off = front hubs engaged
with motor running, a vacuum pump on firewall draws a vacuum and disengages the IWE hubs. if these vacuum lines are bad, or the vacuum motor is bad, it can make your hubs engage while you drive down the road...and then the hubs fail

To add to Tylus's info. If the vacuum to the IWE drops out while driving, you will experience some nasty noises. But if your vacuum system drops out before you start rolling, you may not be aware of the issue. But you might experience resistance or binding from the front, just like you would when 4 wheel drive is engaged and your on a high fricture surface.
