Headlights on when key fob unlock buttong pressed

Is there a way to turn off the feature on these trucks that activates the headlights for a period of time after you press the unlock button on the trucks key fob? reason i ask is that i do a lot of camping an it is just not curtious to shine your lights into someones tent when you grab something out of your truck at 1AM.

Yea that happens to me too. I get a lot of looks I do like the feature that it does light up around my truck say if I need to work in front of it late at night in the woods or something. It also lights up the area if I park my truck as usual in the back of the parking lot when it is dark at night. This way I can see if anything unusual is going on or something like that

You should read up in your owner's manual. It has all kinds of secret ways to turn off the obnoxious features that we don't like, like:
  • Door dings when your seatbelt is not fastened;
  • Door dings when the passenger's seatbelt is not fastened;
  • Doors lock when you drive over 15 mph;
  • Passenger side airbag always on;
  • Passenger side airbag always off;
  • Lights come on when you use your key fob to unlock your doors (maybe...)

But seriously, I would suspect the manual has what you're looking for.

Look in your manual under perimeter lighting. This feature can be enabled/disabled at your discretion.

As CRF250 mentioned, I also like this feature to shed light around my truck when I approach it at night. Just to make sure nobody is waiting in the shadows.

HAHAH! yah use your key!
I know on my last truck I had my windows wired to my alarm so they would roll up when i arm my alarm. It took me 2 weeks to adjust to my 04 without that creature comfort.

I need to disable this too. Ive been just using the key at night for the most part. I have HIDs and the constant igniting of the ballasts put wear on them and the bulbs.

Dont see anything in the manual about perimeter lighting........

I know about the seat belt chime disable trick, that is why i thought there might be a similare trick to turning off these lights.
