i bought my truck brand new in '04 and haven't had one single problem with it, and god knows i don't baby it. I drove 6 hours this weekend in the hill country with the bed and a 16 foot trailer loaded down and had no problems at all and i've got the 4.6.

I used to be a die hard chevy fan, but i've seen the light (atleast when it comes to trucks, chevy STILL rules the muscle car world but thats another thread )

Well when i turned 16 i went truck shopping. I wanted something with an extended cab, 4 wheel drive, and preferably blue.

I came home with a 1990 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. Since then that truck has been there for me through thick n thin, got me into, and out of, a ton of troubles. Dependable at every turn. After 260,000 miles i sold her, just so i could buy my second truck, my 04 F150.

My only regret is waiting so long to buy a newer, full sized truck.

I had Chevy company truck's in the late 60's and early 70's mostly C-20's and even had a C-30, 1 ton with a 9' Longhorn bed. These truck's were mules and rode a lot better than the Ford truck's we had back then. No way I would have asked for a Ford truck. Then in the late 70's Ford started building a lot better truck than Chevy so I also saw the light and bought my first Ford truck in 1984 and now I'm on my 4th one. 5 if you count an Expedition. No real major problems with any of my Ford truck's.

Exactly what was Chevy's "muscle car" after 2002??? Oh yeah, the "SS" cobalt???? You gotta be kidding me. Chevy quit building "Muscle Cars" in 02 with the last Camaro. Still waiting on the New one but I think the Dodge Challenger "looks" better.

I bleed about as blue as you can these days, but I'll be the first to admit that Chevy has the Muscle Car arena on lockdown. The Camaro might not have been built since 2002, but it can still whoop the crap out of anything Ford/Dodge makes except for the 2003/2004 Terminators (not counting special model Mustangs like Saleen and GT 500).

anyways, I'd still rather have a Mustang GT over a Catfish

I'm a Ford fan through and through but...

I'm not real turned on by the styling on the front-end of the new '09 F150. Other than that the Ford spark plug issue has me a little concerned when it comes time to change them out. It would suck to have a plug or two break off while changing them out. I've got 31K on my '06 F150 and it's been trouble free so far and I think the '04-'08s look better than any truck on the road.

I think Chevy has put together a pretty good mouse trap on their new body style trucks and the 1/2 ton Chevy owners seem to like 'em.

However I would say Chevy and the '09 F150's are in a head to head battle for third place in the ugly contest with Dodge coming in second and I'd have to give the Nissan Titan 1st place for the ugliest truck ever...but I'd bet money that the Nissan would be a pretty darn solid truck. And after all you don't have to look at it while you're in the driver's seat.

If it were me I'd toss a coin and if it's heads get an '09 FX4...if it's tails get a Z71. Or better yet get an '08 FX4 and save some hard earned cash, now's the time to buy and I hear Ford will practically give you of free BJ along with selling at dealer invoice minus current rebates. Play your cards right and you might even get them to eat some of their dealer incentive.

They're all hurting bad and will do anything it takes to sell a truck.

Titan is still the worst rated truck on the market in terms of reliability...4 yrs running

you wouldn't have to look at it since it would be at the dealer all the time

Prior to my F-150 I had a '05 Silverado with a 6.0L. The best part about that truck as the engine, transmission, and locking rear. Otherwise, My F-150 handles and drives better/smoother, much more comfortabe inside ( LS vs XLT ), much better looking IMO, more professional looking than the Silverado, much better body, Silverado dinged so easilly and the brand new 07+ generation isn't any better than the 06-. Great having a reliable truck too. NEver seen the dealer yet. My Chevys tailgate handle broke, power steering and brakes blew out, and cyl #5 was developing some slap.

ok it may not be CHEVY but the GTO came out shortly after and it's still GM no matter what way you look at it. Funny thing is, new gts still have problems beating 6 year old fbodys stock for stock

Sure didn't know Nissan had that bad of a track record...but never really research them much because I wouldn't consider it on looks alone.

I respectfully retract my bet!!!

These new body style F-150's are the best looking, best built trucks on the road bar none! Also the fact you can mod the crap out of them to make them into whatever you want and make them even better.

Brand new

As she looks today

You're right hackyzac, but this is a forum about TRUCKS, where's Chevy's "Lightning"? Oh yeah, Chevy doesnt have one. The Lightning is SWEET and with a "few" changes, it will take pretty much anything on street. As a side, talked to a guy from Anderson, SC yesterday. Said he built the only "station-wagon/Corvette". Yeah dont ask I dont know why either but says he sold for $103k. I havent quite determined how full of it he is yet. Probably, ALOT

Huh....Thats funny cause I went to school with a guy whos dad has one and has had it for 25 years now. $103K? Not hardly! Yep hes full of it!!

As for Ford trucks you just cant go wrong IMO. Im on my 4th F150 and before I bought this one I drove the others. Granted, I was looking to go for just a basic truck this time but even in basic fashion it is a much better driving truck. Much more comfortable. Yes others have us on hp but I would still take a Ford anyday. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your choice!
