Painted my calipers and hubs today

I got new wheels last week and after I put them on I could really see the ugly rust covered hubs. I decided to paint the hubs and calipers to clean it up.

After

It wasnt too bad. The kit only comes with one crappy brush that falls apart after the first caliper. I bought two foam brushes and some hobby brushes. It took about an hour per wheel. That includes removing the wheel, cleaning the rust/brake dust off, putting 2 coats of paint on and putting the wheel back on.

This little guy wandered up in my garage to check out what I was doing.

He looks sort of like a Rat Terrier, but unusual coloring. Wonder what he is?

He was a cool dog. He was out there with me for most of the morning. Dont know where he came from. When he first came into my garage I thought it was a big squirrel.

Sleestak your brakes look great! What a big improvement! I'm planning on doing the same thing to my brakes this weekend. Couple of questions first, did you remove the pads before you painted or did you paint over them? Did you release the caliper or did you just remove the rim and paint the brakes? I just finished painting the frame w/Rust-oleum flat black and I'm very happy with the results. One of the better cheap mods IMO.

I thought MinPin, but are they not usually black and tan?

I didnt remove the pads or caliper. I just taped it off and painted around them. I guess I should have painted the pads because they look like crap too. I wasnt sure if it would screw up something if I painted them.

waiting for the first coat to dry

Looks good. What did you clean them with? Did you do the upper spindle too? My 08 spindles look like they have been sitting in a junk yard for 30 years.
