How are you calculating your mpg? One or two measurments means little, you need 10 - 20 measures to be able to state you actual mileage with any degree of confidence. Special considerations must be made if your general driving cyce is speratic.

Very true, everyone has different tastes, but your's appears to be costing you a lot of money. With those mods, there isnt anything you can do to improve your mileage. Your best bet would be to return it to stock and see what happens from there.

First off, You truck looks sweet. LOVE the lift, and it seems very clean. Not that its washed, clean is my way of saying it ain't cluttered.

Second, get tougher skin. I do not mean this in a critical way. We are guys...how do your buddies react when you do or say something stupid? I bet they are merciless. Pretty much what is happening with you at the moment. Don't take the comments personally. One day you will be able to join in the fun of tormenting a noob.

Thirdly, they are right. Although your mods are very sweet, you have to pay to play. (ie , getting the lifted look) You need custom tunes...but mostly, you NEED to regear. 4:10, or 4.55's These may not be the exact numbers, but get something close. A member who is more knowledgeable should be able to quote the right ones.

Fourth, enjoy the better mileage if you regear. The mpg may not be a whole lot better, but you will be able to chit and git.

Holy crap anyone getting less MPG than me has some work to do. That means everyone above this post. 4.56 gears, tuner, intake, exhaust. First big improvement was laying off the pedal and trying to keep the RPMs under 2k, yea a pain in the *** on acceleration but it helps drastically. Second I changed my route to work to cutting down the number of stops. That means gravel roads but oh well. Then use the cruise control and do the damn speed limit. last thing don't idle the truck unless you are at a stop sign. My MPG was around 10-11 now it's 14-15. So take it for what it's worth but if my truck can get respectable mileage you guys surely can do better.

I'm not sure what, if anything, my terrible mileage could have to do with the truck itself. I've never had any trouble with it and it's always been services on schedule.

What do you guys get on the highway? If I keep it under 80 I think i'll get in the 16-17 range. As for the city, I'm hoping i'm seeing 11-12 because I live 1 mile from the office and most of that is getting out of my apartment complex and the parking lot at work. Driving to work doesnt even warm my truck up. Heck, driving home for lunch and back doesnt even get it warm...

Any ideas on what I could try to squeeze better gas mileage? I dont have a heavy foot by any means when driving in the city. Occasionally, on the highway that is another story but I can go weeks without doing much highway driving at all.

You should consider either riding a bike or walking to work. Your truck is getting some very heavy wear and tear by using it for such short drives.

04 scab, 5.4. Was getting around 10-11 mpg, in town only. Last tank was much better because it wasn't 20 below. I can easily get 19-20 mpg on the highway. I have been riding my bike allot the past couple months. Not only am I saving fuel, but I'm getting exercise, which I need bad. My truck is stock and I am disappointed by the mpg I'm getting, but should go up now that the weather has warmed up, So, 10-11 mpg seems about right for your setup. Oh, btw. I can have a few beers, ride my bike to the store and not have to worry about a DUI. But it's hard not to hit those damn telephone poles that jump out at you when you carrying a six pac on a bicycle.

Yea, walking or riding a bike to work would be the most economical. Unfortunately, I have an office job at the FedEx World Headquarters and don't think all the Corp VP's would find it fitting for me to walk in a bit on the sweaty side. It is Memphis and near 90 degrees at 8am.
