F-150 Air Conditioning
My 2007 has the automatic climate controls and it still takes a long time to cool down......most of the time I drive short distances, less than 5-10 miles and it usually doesn't get cold until I get where I am going.
Not to compare chevy to ford, but my last chevrolet A/C was cold about 30 seconds after I started my truck and it stayed that way. GM IMHO has better A/C setup, but thats about it..........

What is that? I'm guessing it's a clear layer that blocks UV. Do you have a brand or manufacturer? I've got 18% tint on the front windows to match the rears and back glass. It helps some, but when it's in the upper 90's the truck is going to get hot.
Best thing I've found was to crack the windows while it's parked, at least that way it doesn't get much hotter than the ambient temp.

I got a remote starter from KCautosound that I'm going to install when I get some time off. I figured it would cool off quicker if I would have the remote start.
I'm going for an oil change soon, do you think it's worth it to have dealership look at the A/C to see if it's charged right............or am i just wasting my time?????

The tint will certainly help, but I would also check the charge on your AC system. Mine was just putting out cool air so I bought a recharge kit with a gauge at Walmart (about $20) and found that the charge was only at the minimum of 30 lbs. I added the entire can and brought it up to 38 lbs (it said the max is 45) and it's putting out cold air now like it should.
My A/C only cools to about 48-50 when I'm driving and on MAX when it is about 90 outside. If I remember right from last year it only cooled to about 50 while sitting in the driveway. It will cool the cab if I have the fan on 3 or 4 but I hate have the fan blowing that high all of the time when I want the A/C on.

Thanks for the replies guys!
My 08 is actually silver....my 04 was DSG. My new truck does have the Black Leather and my old one had grey cloth....I know this makes a difference in heat!!
I have 30% on the front windows as well as a 5% strip on the windshield and this does help! With fuel prices these days, leaving the truck running with a remote start for a bunch of extra time is a waste of money...lots of it!
My air is no where near 40 degrees at the vent. I may take it in and have them look at it. My 04 was definatly much colder than the new one.
Thanks again for the help!!

The 45 lb reading is on the suction (return side) of the compressor with the engine idling and the ac on max. The instructions with the kit said not to exceed a reading of 45 lbs. Mine is working great with 38 lb.
I was told by a mechanic at my dealership that many trucks come new with just a minimal charge and don't cool that well.
