Suggestions on Purchase

I currently have a 2001 SCrew, Gen. III, Lariat and have loved the truck ever since I purchased it. I've got about 72,000 miles on it now and I'm thinking of getting a new one in the upcoming months. Although the 2009's are coming out by the end of the year, I think that I'd rather get a 2008 since I'm a little wary of getting a brand new model before all the bugs have been worked out.

Any thoughts?

Any suggestions on good options? Bad options?

I appreciate any help!

I tend to be somewhat conservative financially, so I'd be on the prowl for a good deal on an '08 if I were you -- let the "fools and their money" being parted by chasing after the latest and greatest bodystyle.......

I suspect if you purchase by September or maybe even early October there should be enough inventory of the '08's lying around that you won't have to compromise too much on how you want it optioned out. Of course, you're talking to the guy who almost always orders his vehicles, since I want it EXACTLY how I want it.......

You may wanna wait and at least drive the 09 first. There will probably be both trucks on the lots at that time. I know there's about 500 08s at my local dealer that aren't going anywhere. Plus a couple hundred more at the other dealer I frequent.

You should be able to get a great deal on ANY 08 you find in stock at ANY dealer, but FORGET trying to trade yours in. You won't get squat for it - if the dealer will even take it! Keep it or work your @$$ off trying to sell it to some mental midget who doesn't realize how bad the book values have crashed on full size trucks recently.

I would definately try to get an 08 for a very good price, than waste your money on a first time model year. Just my 2 cents.

Personally, I'd grab an 08, after June 3rd. Ford is going to offer the employee purchase price, PLUS any rebates. That will be hard to beat, besides the fact I LOVE my 2008 Lariat!!

I bought mine in March, and am now kicking myself in the hindquarters for not waiting until June/July to purchase it, though I got a fair deal.

Thanks for all of the suggestions thus far. My current truck is a 4x4 so I'll definitely be sticking with that style. I really want to get the best value I can and figure that an 08 at the right time will be a great deal. I'll probably start my search for the deal in the end of this month and go from there. Should be fun!

Thanks again!
