hydroplaned and wrecked :(

well, on monday i was traveling down the interstate at about 60-65mph and when i went to change lanes, i must have hit a pocket of water because my backend slided out to the right and i attempted to correct it. However as i did, we are guessing the tires grabbed the road which in turn swung the back end the other way and the truck started to slide toward and 18 wheeler. In order to keep from hitting it, i fought to correct it and managed to get the truck going backwards but away from the 18 wheeler. I just keep the truck going straight into the guardrail because i knew that if i tried to save it anymore, i would likely cause a huge wreck. I was knocked unconscious for a few minutes and got taken in for a ct scan. Everything is fine.
The truck looks like the rear bumper hit the rail first....that impact knocked me out....and then the front swung in and hit. Then the truck did a 180 and turned back going the right way. I feel very lucky to still be here with no injuries. The truck took the impact very well. I would hate to see what would have happened to plastic bumpers. I figure i hit the rail going at about 45-50 mph.

If you ever have the chance to take a driving course on how to handle certain situations i would highly recommend it. I took one called drivers edge and i believe that it is part of the reason i was able to handle the situation the way i did and manage to keep other cars from being involved.

Glad you're ok, and it wasn't anymore serious than it was...

Just by looking at the pics, you wouldn't think it was severe enough to knock you unconscious.

I am also a bit surprised that it knocked you out.

Glad you are ok, looks like you should be able to get the truck fixed up fine.

My roomate spun out while entering the highway and smacked the median concrete wall, and a state trooper gave him a ticket for "unsafe speeds" and he was only doing about 45

glad to hear you are okay

How many miles on the truck?

Anything done to the tires, wheels, and suspension before this happened?

Dude that guy just had an accident and you asking about the tires and suspension and dont tell him you are glad he is ok. WTF???

Runnerboy I am glad no one got hurt it could have been a lot worse. You are probably right about the driving course helping you. Again I am glad you are ok you can always replace a truck.

That is scary, glad your ok. That isn't much damage for hitting a guard rail at 45. Built Ford Tough.

Glad you are OK

I hydroplaned a number of years back. Needed new tires. The only way that I was able to drive out of it, was my experience with snow in an empty parking lot.
